Yeah. A few weeks ago she posted this which made it seem like she'd gotten her hair done. But last week she posted this which says it is actually her natural hair:

As cheeesy as it sounds, I feel like I’ve taken my power back, from classmates in school who made fun of me for the frizz and the texture and the volume, from friends who thought they were complimenting me when they told me my hair was “so much prettier straightened”.. If you’ve spent time in Vancouver, it’s no secret that the black community is VERY small, and I honestly think the people I grew up with were never exposed to the beauty that is black hair, myself included. I suppressed it for a long time which makes me sad. It is wonderful that she has embraced her natural hair & been able to have it on the show

Too busy listening to the people who thought they were doing the right thing telling her how good it looks straightened? Wouldn't surprise me. Especially if she was being told the frizz & curls were bad from a young age/teenage years.

It is wonderful that she's been able to care for her hair & get it back to what it is meant to be though

If Mads hair is naturally curly I wonder if being around her inspired & encouraged it too? It gave her a role model of someone with African background

i mean it is the higher up telling her to straighten her hair , but she is a woman of mix race and she would have curly hair , they should of had it from the start

Perhaps. But it sounds like from what she's said that it goes deeper than just higher ups telling her to straighten it. Supposedly at least some filmsets don't know what they're doing when it comes to African American hair too. I'd hope on a show where the stars are from African American descents that is not the case though. But people have a certain idea on what people should look like & curly & frizzy hair isn't it. So could be that at first they tried to say how her hair should be/look. But to me it sounds like even growing up she was made to believe that her hair looked better straightened
