Oh nooo... Dear God, why didn't he shave? :pout:

Ok, I was able to stand that little teeny-weeny beard in the centre of his chin, once, I even liked it....

But as much as I adore him as a driver and as a man, I really need to say this: "Please Fernando, please shave!".

He looks so cute without facial hair...

Time goes really fast, tomorrow starts Racing Weekend! :yay:

Schumacher sets early Imola pace
Michael Schumacher put down a very fast early marker in the first hour of practice on Friday at Imola. The Ferrari driver completed just four laps but went almost 0.4s faster than Williams tester Alex Wurz as the Italian team gears up for what it believes to be its best chance of a winning weekend so far this season.

The first practice session was dominated by third drivers goin about tyre testing but after an installation lap, Schumacher came out right at the end of the session and fired in a very quick first timed lap of 1m242.751s. Wurz was second fastest after 19 laps, BMW tester Robert Kubica was third over a second behind the ultimate pace after 24 laps and Honda's Anthony Davidson fourth after 27 laps.

Fernando Alonso completed three installation laps but did not set a timed lap. Mark Webber, Nico Rosberg and Jenson Button all waited the session out in the pits - allowing their third drivers to do the donkey work for them.

Alonso fights back
21 April 2006

Fernando Alonso fought back against Michael Schumacher's determination to win this weekend and finished Friday's second practice session 0.3s ahead of the German as the current and former champions led the field.

Alonso's time of 1m25.043s came from 15 laps while Schumacher put in 13. Third fastest was BMW third driver Robert Kubica ahead of Honda's Anthony Davidson. Both third drivers compelted 31 laps. Felipe Massa was fifth confirming Ferrari's pace this weekend.

Fisichella was sixth in the second Renault ahead of an improved Jarno Trulli and Williams tester Alex Wurz. McLaren set curious times over a second off the pace with Montoya ninth and Raikkonen twelfth - between them the BMW of Heidfeld and the Honda of Button.

This is going to be really exciting race. It looks that Ferrari is back in form, as well as Honda, but maybe they again have a little fuel on board? :D I don't think Jense can have his virgin win at Imola, but of course everything is possible.

Renault and McLaren a bit back on the grid. Maybe they have a special strategy?

The thing, that shocked me was Fisi's pace, and the fact that he was knocked-out in phase 2. It shouldn't happen, especially now, when he has for Imola a new B-spec engine...

parasite33 04-23-2006 08:57 AM

From Planet F1:

"Renault's Pat Symonds has defended his decision to bring forward Fernando Alonso's second pit-stop during the San Marino despite the Spaniard questioning whether the change of strategy cost him victory.

With a muted Alonso stuck behind the struggling Ferrari of Michael Schumacher, Symonds called in the World Champion ahead of schedule in a bid to leapfrog the German. But the move backfired when Ferrari immediately followed suit and brought Schumi in for his second and final pit-stop.

Had Alonso been left on track to exploit the extra fuel he was still carrying then the Spaniard would surely have produced sufficient extra pace from his R26 to snatch victory from Schumacher's grasp. When the Ferrari then emerged from the pits in front of Alonso, Renault's game was up.

"The second pit-stop was not planned for that lap. We came in much earlier and did it work? Maybe the opposite. Maybe my normal pit-stop would have worked better," Alonso remarked pointedly in his press conference.

"We had fuel to go a little bit further," admitted a chastened Symonds, "but we couldn't tell how much further than them. So we though the best thing to do was to get [Fernando] out of his [Schumi's] slipstream. We had nothing to lose and maybe a small chance to gain, so we took it."

Questions will also be asked of Alonso after the World Champion failed to launch a sustained bid to overtake a car so bereft of pace that at one stage it appeared as if the two Toro Rosso cars would un-lap themselves.

"It is difficult to overtake here, if not impossible," insisted Alonso. "I just waited for my opportunity but it didn't come."

Yet the Spaniard did nothing to dispel the impression that he was content to settle for second by describing the result as "championship-wise, perfect for me."

Entering the race, Alonso held a 14-point over the second-place driver in the Drivers' Championship. Leaving Imola, Alonso's championship lead had been stretched to 15 points.

Alonso's cold, calculating style has earned him plenty of points and admirers, as well as a World Championship. But his fanclub will not be receiving many new members after his strangely lacklustre performance this weekend."

wheeee!!! thanks for rescuing our first post, marie!!!

i'm so envious you're going to Nurburgring!!! i hope FA wins there...so you can party with the rest of the renault crew. ;) no i haven't heard about renault wanting schumi though i've heard about alonso transferring to mclaren & kimi to ferrari. let's just all see soon. ;)

jenson has so far had a so-so season. he's in P1 but come race day, he always loses out. :( i hope he wins his first ever GP this season...

*MH* 05-02-2006 02:33 AM

I thought I'd better put in an appearance to say I'm still alive and edit the first post!!

I'm leaving tomorrow for the Nurburgring *gets very nervously excited* it'll probably rain!!

I went to testing at Silverstone last week... we saw Fernando 9 times, and no we weren't stalking him although we think Fisi thought we were stalking him because at one point he stuck his head out of the Renault garage, looked straight at us and then vanished back inside :-/

Alonso expects big fight at Nurburgring
02 May 2006

Fernando Alonso is expecting a big fight to regain his winning streak at the Nurburgring this weekend after trailing Michael Schumacher home in the San Marino Grand Prix. While Alonso is confident he can challenge for the win, he's not so sure about Ferrari's pace and whether the Italian team can keep up its pace.

"I am expecting a big fight again," Alonso said. "I think the level of competition is much closer than the championship standings suggest, and there will be some big challengers. The Michelin tyres have performed very consistently at every circuit this year, and they have done a great job. It will be the same in Germany, I am sure, so we will see a big push from McLaren-Mercedes at their home race, running on the same Michelin tyres as us."

"What we don't know at the moment is how consistent Ferrari will be," he added. "So far, they have been strong at the same tracks as in 2005, and not so good at others. It is too early to say if it will be the same this year, so we can't write them off - and Michael is racing in front of his people too. We must concentrate on our job though, at Renault. I have the new B spec RS26 engine, which is a good step forward, and there are new developments on the car at every race. So I am sure we can be fighting for the win again on Sunday afternoon."

Fisichella promises no more mistakes
02 May 2006

Giancarlo Fisichella has promised no more mistakes like the qualifying blunder which saw him sitting in the pit lane in the second session at Imola watching the screen as he was knocked out of the top ten. In the race Fisichella was unable to make much of an impression.

"I pushed as hard as possible in the race but from eleventh, there was not so much I could do," Fisichella said. "The car was very heavy in the first stint and difficult to drive. The handling came back in the next stints - but there is only so much you can do with the strategy at Imola, and it is hard to make up places. I got stuck behind Barrichello at one point but even so, nearly got sixth place. It is frustrating, but we know we lost the chance of a good finish in qualifying. We made some mistakes, and it won't happen again."

Looking ahead to this weekend's race Fisichella was in bullish mood.

"I think we will be right up at the front," Fisichella said. "I still have another race on the B spec engine, but we have had excellent reliability on it, so we know the performance will be there. The car was very quick last year at this track - I went from the pit-lane to P6 in the race, so we had strong pace and the Michelin tyres worked well. The R26 will be quick, like it has been at all the circuits. I am sure the competition will be strong too, from the usual teams. But we will fighting for the podium, and to score the maximum points possible."

Button still convinced he can win
01 May 2006

There is a lot of pressure on Jenson Button. The Honda driver has raced over a 100 races but still needs to score his first victory in Formula 1. The British media is not easy on him and is expecting a win very soon.

Some might wonder if Button is capable of winning races, but Button replied saying: "It's a crazy thing for people to say I can't ever win," Button told The Times. "Every team on the grid makes mistakes and Renault has made many in the past — I know because I was there once. It's a question of realising you are making mistakes and then doing something about it. You have to be perfect to win a grand prix and we haven't been there yet. It would be difficult to keep going if we had a slow car — but we haven't. "

"I know it's not good enough to say we can win but never achieve it — but it is a fact that we can. At the factory, I ran through the positives and negatives and there were plenty of positives. I think everyone in the factory turned up. I was amazed. I said my bit about how we can improve things and they are working so hard you have to thank them."

"The biggest frustration is that Formula One is so competitive now and most of the drivers are so good," he said. "It is very different to 30 years ago — and I am not putting anybody down from that time. But now everyone is working their backsides off and they live Formula One every day. And that's what you have to do — even just to stay in Formula One. After that, it's down to the car. Even Michael [Schumacher] says we are similar in talent with little differences and a lot of it is down to the team."

Brawn: If our wing is illegal, everyone is illegal
01 May 2006

Ferrari's technical director Ross Brawn said that if any of his rivals will officially send in a protest he will also lodge a formal protest against them. Brawn believes that if their rear wing is illegal then so are the wings of various other teams.

"If someone protests against us then we would protest against them," Brawn told Auto Motor Und Sport. Last week Honda's technical director Geoff Willis claimed he has evidence on video that shows Ferrari's rear wing is illegal, but Brawn reacted saying: "We have videos of every car, showing that aerodynamic devices bend. If all you look at are videos then every car out there is illegal."

Fisichella not writing off title
01 May 2006

Although Renault driver Giancarlo Fisichella is 21 points behind his team mate Fernado Alonso he is not giving up on the Formula 1 title just yet. Fisichella is realistic enough to admit there is a big gap, but there are still many races to come.

"Already Fernando has got at least more than 20 points more than me and this is bad," Fisichella admitted to ITV. "But the championship is long, so we have every chance to recover that."

The only solution Fisichella sees to close the gap with Alonso is "Hard work. Do my best and go flat out everywhere and just be confident. I have no plan other than that to win the championship you have to be quick everywhere."

Schumi mulling two-year deal
30 April 2006

Michael Schumacher is considering staying in Formula One for another two seasons, Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo said. Schumacher is expected to make a decision on his future in F1 by June.

"I think Michael wants to continue for a year but not to find himself facing the same persistent questions he has asked of him now," Montezemolo told the Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper. "It would suit him to stay for another two years, but he's assessing whether he'll still want to race in 2008."

"It's up to Michael to decide what he wants to do and he knows that if he wants to stay for two years then we'll agree," he added. "He has to tell us what he wants to do. His future depends more on what he's thinking than on Ferrari."

You're extremly lucky MH! :D Did Fernando shave? :P

I was planning to go to Hockenheimring with my friends, because it's not very far from the place I'm living in, but my mom *unfortunately* had forgotten about that, and booked us holidays in that time. I'm still mad at her. :)

We saw Fernando at 9:10am and I came out with the classic "it's Fernando, he's shaved" *head desk* He walked passed us, there was no one else around and I just let him keep walking.

Parents!! mine never seem to get the message that I don't like missing races, but still they arrange things for when they're on

I've not written one yet, but Schumacher fans are... interesting :look: I have lots of pictures, but they're friends locked in my journal. I'll have to find the most interesting from the Nurburgring and Silverstone testing if you want to see any because I'd kill the page if I posted them all.

Now it's just a month until I'm at Silverstone for the British GP, and then that'll be me done with live f1 watching for the year. I could have gone to Monaco with my friends, but I thought another friend was coming over to go to London so I saved the money so that'll have to wait until next season.

parasite33 05-11-2006 03:32 AM

Good for him he had shaved, and actually he has a new haircut, doesnt' he? :) It's cute. :)

I don't like stalking people too, it's kinda pitiful for me. I just can't imagine myself chasing famous drivers and begging them to sign something. :look:
