I think it was Katherine Cooper.

Maybe they decided that Cabe is the only person who can really deal with them.

Well if they look at success rates...yeah.

We still haven't seen any of Toby's family. I really hope that changes in S4.

Yes, definitely.

I've been trying to think of someone who would be good in the role of Toby's mom. They did a great job with Paige's mom.

A few I've thought of: Mary McDonnell, Dana Delany (another one from Body of Proof), Katey Segal and Christine Baranski.

I like the Katey Segal idea!

Katey does a great job with mother roles. She always blends in something that gives the characters more than the stereotype of who they are. Even Peggy Bundy had her moments, and she was more of a caricature than a character.

Agreed.

Oh! How about Lisa Kudrow? (This isn't serious it's a long story but Heidi will get it. )

But I don't think Toby's dad is POTUS.

So Elia was back last night...I've never been a fan, but what does everyone else think of him?

I liked him in Season 1, I appreciated how he was supportive of Walter when so many of his contemporaries seemed to be dismissing him as a kind of mad eccentric inventor. He was, perhaps, a little naive to assume Walter would want to give up Scorpion to go and work with him, but I interpreted that as a manifestation of Elia's lower EQ (because he's also highly intelligent) and him not understanding how much the team meant to Walter. I believe he had Walter's best intentions at heart.

However, I was disappointed by him in Tech, Drugs and Rock and Roll. I know the grand opening of the building was very important for Elia, but he was too quick to blame Walter when things started to go wrong and wouldn't listen when Walter and the team started to piece together what had really happened. Also, he didn't really seem that worried about Walter being in serious danger when he was stuck in space. He could have at least demonstrated a little guilt considering it was the apparent total lack of safety protocols on his rocket that sent Walter into space in the first place!

I would be curious to see his daughter return again though. Maybe she is upset at the way money and success has changed him? (Hmmm...sounds like the kind of fic I love to write. Leave that with me... )

I didn't like Elia much in S1, but yeah, by 2.06 I hated him, both for how he acted and how the team and Elia himself were talking about how he was Walter's father figure. No. Cabe is Walter's father figure, sit down Richard, and stop being the abbreviation of your name.

That's true, he is definitely not a father figure to Walter. He was originally, perhaps, a mentor in terms of being someone who has been hugely successful because of his intelligence, but that's completely different. I can see how Walter might have looked up to him on that basis.

Yes. Mentor is a good word. Mentor is appropriate.
