I think what Sulieter (sorry don't think you've told us your name here?) meant was let his mother die in front of him. He wasn't able to go back far enough in time to save her from Reverse Flash. Mother was already about to die, if we recall.

I thought that scene could have been more than it was. They barely talked. It made him look helpless; bet he was sad that he couldn't save her.

If I remember correctly he could have saved his mother, was about to but his future self stopped him. He waited on the other side of the door while his mom was getting stabbed and the only thing he could do at that point was telling her goodbye

It was a very emotional scene and the critics rightfully praised Grant for his acting but I prefer the scene with Henry. I think his father was right in telling him not to go back in time, nobody knew what would have happened if he had saved his mom.
