There must be a mutual respect because Cooper has "trusted" Red as much as he can in his capacity, since the beginning. Or maybe Cooper is that good at his job to know bs or not. They both do their homework. See there is even more history to explore with these two

But honestly, when Red surrendered, I always had the impression that Red knew Cooper pretty well... I wasn't sure if he just did his research or if they've met each other before but I got the impression Red knew him. By the way he was talking to Cooper especially.
Oh yes, when Red went there in the whole Connolly dilemma and Cooper trusted him about it. Cooper called Red, not anybody else. __________________

I had that feeling as well Kris. And besides Red knows everybody.
I really liked them working together as well Marilyn. And I definitly think there is a mutual respect between them even though Cooper is the AD and Red is a criminal. Like Susana said, Cooper trusted Red as much as he was allowed too. __________________

Kris, if never occurred to me that they knew each other when they met. But now that you mention it the clues were all there. That probably has something to do with the timing of when Red turned himself in. Plus cooper was kind of in favor of the whole idea.

I like where this discussion/ theory is going. I wonder if Cooper knew Red when he was with naval intelligence. Before Red went rogue. Hmm. Maybe he knows that story and was suspicious of what went down.

I wonder if Cooper knows Red from his naval intelligence days as well. We know that Cooper and Red had an encounter in Kuwait but we know nothing besides that..

We also know that Zcooper and Connoly already knew each other from The Judge episode. Based on that episode I thought Cooper had a military background, but for him to be the Asst FBI Director, I think he mAy have spent his whole career in the FBI. What if Cooper dealt with Naomi when she had to go in witness protection.
Do we know what year the Kuwait incident was? |

So that messes up my witness protection theory. But if they were both in the navy they could have known each other.
All these connections appear to run deep. I'm wondering if Red had the information on Kuwait and if he used that in the beginning to get Coopers cooperation when he turned himself in. |

I think they new each other too and it does run deep. And you could be right Marilyn. Red probabaly did use Kuwait to get in the task force. He respects Cooper but has business to tend to. I am more intrigued about this relationship now. Hope we get good story with Cooper out of this.
