Here we go! So excited for all of the Matherine and Basherine goodness in this ep.

Keri's random thoughts, Round 1:

- "We were playing a game of chess, which I won." Perfect cover story.
- "Your son died a hero, not a victim."
- "Don't inhale the smoke. I can't have another dead monarch on my hands."
- Ugh, Nacisse! He knows he's the one who put that rat in Lola's bath, and yet he's going to use it to try to convict Catherine! GRRRR. It's moments like these when I wish Francis, Mary and Catherine had gotten rid of you once and for all.
- Catherine telling Mary about her rekindled affair with Narcisse. How awkward. But Mary is still Catherine's ally. Now she just has to help Catherine without hurting her other friend, Lola.
- Oh, wow. Lola is in such denial about Narcisse! I understand why she doesn't want to see the truth, though. Who would want to admit that their marriage was built on a lie?
- "Since you lost Francis, she has been a great support in your hour of need." - Even Lola is feeling Matherine.
- And Mary is dealing with a food shortage and hostage situation in Scotland, too. She's having quite a night!
- It makes sense that Spain would believe that someone at French court "corrupted" Don Carlos, but for once it was the other way around!
- What's different about Greer? Well it's certainly not the new dress! At a certain point it just gets silly that Mary and everyone else can't see that she's pregnant.
- Secrets don't say secrets. True.

Keri's random thoughts, Part 2:

- I can only imagine how hard it would be to grasp that your own mother tried to poison you. Even if you knew she wasn't it in her right mind, it's still painful. Poor Claude doesn't understand how much her mother loves and values her.
- Oh, clever Claude. Trying to bargin in order to get to choose who she marries. "Do you have someone in mind?" We know you're thinking of one charming former kitchen boy, Claude. #Cleith
- Spain's delegation already knows of the prince's... habits. Don Carlos slipped off of a wall while picking wild flowers for Queen Mary? Sure, let's go with that.
- BASHERINE!
- "You are offering me a kindness and consideration I have rarely shown you through the years. WHY?"
- "Those feelings lead me to stand here with you."
- "Thank you, Sebastian." I love the way she says his name. HANDS!
- Don Carlos is going to live! That's not good. Catherine's stategy: kill the prince. Mary's stategy: tell the truth and beg for forgiveness. They are certainly attacking the problem from different angles.
- Narcisse allowing his wife to make that testimony, knowing it's false. Lola is beginning to doubt... Narcisse almost beleives his own lies. I think he really wants to believe that he didn't manipulate Lola into marrying him - that they married simply because they love each other. He's a little in denial, too.
- Lola's father and brothers are with the hostages.
- "Catherine, unhand that rag." Well it's always good to have a backup plan.
- Pretty Mary. Yes, that's true, Don Carlos. Mary is very pretty.
- Catherine is practically giddy when she realizes that the prince is impaired and doesn't remember what happened. What a relief.
- What an interesting deal... swapping Lola for the hostages. Did we ever find out what happened to Lola's family? I can't remember.

Keri's random thoughts, Part 3:

- Narcisse is getting so desparate and defensive. Mary is right. He's trying to ease his guilt by saving Lola's family. Describing Catherine as a "a jilted, desperate, poisonous woman who wants me to be as miserable and unloved as she is." I think you could use those same words to describe yourself, Narcisse.
- I actually felt sorry for Don Carlos at this point. Being hidden away out of shame.
- What Narcisse did to Claude during her testimony was so cruel! Using her own private diary against her. The poor girl feeling responsible for her mother going to trial for regicide. The Catherine/Claude hug. Catherine comforting her daughter, even as she being told that she will go to court for murder.
- Catherine's diguise. She looks so adorable! "How many fleas live in that pile? That sock just moved."
- "There's enough gold for three months." - "That's more like one." It would have been fun to see Catherine trying to get used to being a "peasant" for a little while.
- Catherine just wants Mary to protect herself and her country by marrying Don Carlos. She's always trying to look out for her.
- Catherine kissing Mary's hand. "God be with you, Catherine."
- Uh oh, Lola recognizes the handwriting of Narcisse's secretary.
- It's Bash! There is only one way to confirm their suspicions and prove Francis wasn't poisoned. "Let us visit my son." Oh, poor Catherine.
- Narcisse killing his poor secretary to cover up his lies. "What is power without love?" That's a good question, Narcisse. He should have listened to Cedrik and told Lola the truth. He's delusional if he thinks that he can pull off this one last big deception and simply be honest and honorable going forward. Sooner or later, lies always catch up to you.

Keri's random thoughts, Part 4:

- Now Lola knows the truth. "You want to hear something honest? I love you, and I would do anything to keep you." Oh, Narcisse. I almost feel sorry for you. But control and manipulation is not love! It's just creepy.
- You have to respect that Lola valued herself enough to leave Narcisse immediately when she learned the truth. And going to England for the sake of her family is pretty courageous.
- Poor starving Scottish children.
- Ugh, this confrontation between Catherine and Narcisse is so satifying! She lays it all out there. How he is responsible for all of her suffering. Forcing her to look upon the decaying corpse of her firstborn son - that image burned in her memory. There are no words.
- "Mary, avert your eyes."
- Lola telling Mary that Francis' soul and memory live on.
- I do feel for Lola. It must be hard to accept the fact that you were duped. And what she is doing for her family is pretty brave. Reckless perhaps, but brave.
- Lola recognizes that "something remains" between Narcisse and Catherine.... She is smart to want to get away from him. The girl doesn't want to get tricked and manipulated again.
- And her conversation with Lola helps Mary realize that she must secure the alliance with Spain to save her people... despite the guilt she feels in taking advantage of Don Carlos' condition.
- Catherine's blase reaction to Narcisse losing Lola. "Oh?" Narcisse has done terrible things to Catherine, but I do believe him when he says that he doesn't hate her.
- When Mary looks at herself in the mirror. She is so ashamed of what she had to do to get grain for Scotland.
- Ok, so who is the guy plotting against the Valois who kills the Cardinal in the end? I can't remember exactly who he is.

-The opening scene is gold.
-Right Catherine, because if anyone else won it wouldn't be believable....
-yep no one will notice Mary's skirt that clearly neither matches or fits...okay
-Narcisse not caring that his making up evidence could get her executed...reasons I hate him
-No Mary, I realize that was just between my boobs...but don't touch it or you may die, clearly her boobs are poison proof.
-BTW Mary I'm still sleeping with your bestie's husband, but since I'm your new bestie I know you won't care....you're absolutely right, I'll go tell Lola to back off
-Hey Mary I know Catherine is your new bestie but she a ho, I mean she's got your back but she still a ho.
-Hey guys...is Don Carlos dead yet? No? Shame.
-Hey there Catherine, I know you hate my guts but I'm secretly in love with you so I'm gonna help anyway and pretend it's cause Mary asked me to. #BASHERINE

-Narcisse, I know I testified because Catherine is a ho...but now I'm starting to think maybe you da ho...tell me I'm wrong and I'll beleive you.
-Narcisse, using Claude thatt way was really low, especially since you know why Catberine actually poisoned her and she didn't mean it.
-'that sock just moved' Catherine is disgusted beyond reason.
-Why hey there Tiny Tim....er Catherine.
-OMG that little hand kiss is tbe cutest ever!
-Bash to the rescue...now they both have to go and do a terrible thing. Poor Basherine. I super wish we could've seen Catherine ride away on that horse with him.
-Mary avert your eyes. I can't bare to have you go through seeing that like I did. Always looking out for baby girl.
-If looks could kill. Basherine double team stare down. Narcisse better watch yo self.
-So...as it turns out Narcisse really was the ho, but I can't admit it because Catherine will never let me live it down so imma go do some dumb stuff in England.
-You're the bravest person I know...and also the dumbest...like we all told you not to marry the ho

It was just a joke... Have you seen 10 Things I Hate About You? A girl is really popular with guys, so someone asks, "What is it with this chick? She have beer-flavored nipples?" I don't know why, but when you mentioned "poison proof" breasts, that's what I thought of. Boobs with special qualities. Never mind.

Actually, historically speaking, Catherine and Mary quite frequently played chess amd cards. They also would embroider together. And i think, they probably did in the Reign universe as well, juat because we didn't see it, doesn't mean they didn't. I mean that would be a boring scene. For her "story" to be believable, one must concur they probably have...otherwise Narcisse would have been like wtf are you doing? You're not fooling anyone.

I don't think I knew that about real-life Mary and Catherine. I love that! And that makes sense that they played chess together in the Reign universe, too. It must have been a common occurrence for their cover story to be plausible.

Sorry, I meant to post here earlier. You probably already figured it out, but we are postponing the rewatch of episode 3x09 until next week. We'll keep you posted.
