Call me crazy, but I'm not too concerned about the fates of Delphine and Cosima in S3. The way Delphine's story arc developed, the chance to kill her was in the finale (as someone else mentioned here), but they instead put her on a plane to Germany. The fact that they spared her but separated Cophine (without breaking them up--tip of my hat to the writers there) just sets up some drama for next season. They flat out had Dream Delphine say, "I will never leave you," so they practically spelled out a reunion at some point.

As for Delphine not saying goodbye to Cosima, I was under the impression that with the security guard in the elevator, Delphine was not free to move about DYAD as soon as Rachel told her that "effective immediately" she would not work with clones. I assumed she was escorted out (and possibly to the plane itself).

Despite my relative lack of concern for Cophine in S3, I was very disappointed that they weren't given a decent love scene (or even a good makeout session), and I wish they could have had some sort of reconnection after Cosima's collapse. That felt very wrong, narrative-wise.

Its just that the more I think about them (for me is still the orphan black day, God) the more I have this NOT ENOUGHT vibe. Because yeah, we have got this super extra sweet little things like "Eskimo pie", "I want to make crazy science with you", "you are the puppy" and this sad looks (anyway, seriously? is the fandom and screenwriter the same person?) and we also have got this amazing deep stuff which are left to our own interpretation like that hallucination Cosima had and "puppy follow the explorer" and many other which I don't remember probably.

But all of these should be EXTRA stuff, something added, that when we rewatch the episode, we can find this and say "oh, and also can you see that Cosima has Delphine as Eskimo Pie?" but should be focused on some serious action about them.

But making it as a only thing, the main thing, it is just not enough I think it is just a ****ing bad idea, sorry creators of OB.

Another reason I'm happy that we have got ILY's

Agreed. As for a decent love scene, I think we'll get one when Cosima is a bit better.

Oh, yeah, I meant I was disappointed that it didn't happen all season. Cosima was way too sick for a love scene to make sense in the finale. Although, she did manage to dance pretty well.

I'm hoping for epic reunion sex, myself. Need. Want.

Yeah I definitely think Cosima and Delphine should have gotten a love scene at some point this season. I was happy with the love declarations and that beautiful hallucination Cosima had, but I'm hoping for more physicality in season 3.

I'm with you on this one. I'm not worried, I just want her back sooner rather than later in S3. Delphine came back for Cosima once, she's not going to just let her slip now.

The way Cosima is staring gets me more than anything else. She is completely transfixed, like seeing angels on another plane of existence transfixed since Delphine is that source of heaven like love for Cosima. And oh good gravy she can't even blink because that would mean Delphine vanishing from her sight and she couldn't have that happen any sooner than necessary, absolutely not.

I think these few seconds are actually enough to sustain me for 10 months and Delphine wasn't even there. It wasn't even real. But that doesn't even matter because holy **** this finale while giving us no real interaction underlined at least the love both of them feel for each other in the smallest of moments. Delphine had pretty amazing lines to Rachel, lbr, and Cosima is practically having a Rose/Jack titanic level experience. It doesn't get much more OTP than that.

That gifset is so unfair.

God, I am just so emotional after 210, seriously. Like I keep tearing up every time I think about how Cophine ended the season. It's not even like they broke up or one of them died or anything. It's just they struggled this whole time to stay together and then Rachel had to come in and ruin everything. And for what? Because Rachel is a total bitch to them for no reason. There was no reason she couldn't have at least let Delphine say goodbye. Rachel is just cruel for cruelty's sake.

And then the way Cosima is so upset before she gets Delphine's email ... you can see her on her bed in the background, covering her face. I hate it and yet I love it because the angst is so, so good.

Same here. It's such a perfect scene. If anyone ever doubted that Cosima loves Delphine as much as Delphine loves her, I think the issue has been completely put to rest. Delphine was Cosima's love and light and her whole will to survive. It's so heartbreakingly beautiful.

This is everything.

These two will be the end of me. There cannot be any other OTP after this.

I was just talking to people on Twitter about this. I stan so hard for Paily on PLL and I have loved them sfm for 4 years/5 seasons. But man, Cophine. COPHINE. There's just something so epic and magical about them. They feel so mature and realistic and deeply emotional to me. And it never feels like they go back on character development for the sake of drama, it never feels like they do cheap things for the sake of contrived drama. It's just two real, flawed people in love, trying so hard to make things work. Obstacle after obstacle, they keep on loving each other. This is what real love is like. Real love is hard work. Real love is sacrifice. And that's what Cophine are all about. Their scenes touch me way down deep. Sure, Paily is an amazing couple with an amazing story and all of that. But Cophine is just on another level. What I feel for Paily is like, "Aw, yes, this resonates with the teenager I once was." What I feel for Cophine is more, "This is the kind of love I want to have." And that is so important.

Speaking of important stuff:

Quote:
This season has not spent tons of time on Cophine (neither did the 1st, really), so, though we did get plenty of their important moments (“I love you”s, Cosima confronting Delphine - briefly - about the sketchy stuff she’s done, Delphine supporting Cosima consistently - even, strangely enough, when she was being sneaky and lying, and finally Delphine understanding Cosima’s need for agency and changing her attitude and actions to help all the clones) there were tons of little things that we didn’t see. (I totally understand this and am not trying to complain here - this is a show about clones, not just about Cophine . I get it. I just want to make a point and this is relevant to it.)

Throughout the mentioned Cophine scenes, it is abundantly and obviously clear how much Delphine loves Cosima. All that she does is in an effort to help Cosima. But, it seems like Cosima’s love for Delphine is more told to us than really shown. She hasn’t been shown being supportive of Delphine (even after the whole “I’ve made a terrible mistake” scene. Presumably she supports Delphine after this?? I hope?? But the bottom line is ~we don’t know~.) because she’s been so sick that she was always the one getting comforted, and also Delphine was betraying her so umm that also causes some issues. Spending time focusing on these moments understandably means that there isn’t time for us to see the simple moments of them just being in love and together.

Because of this, I think that dream/hallucination!Delphine scene was really, really important. It meant that we finally see how much Delphine really means to Cosima, how much Cosima really loves Delphine.

I mean, she wakes up just because Delphine promises to never leave her.

Let that just sink in.

She wakes up. because Delphine. promises to NEVER leave her.

That’s it. That’s the whole reason she wakes up. She looks devastated when she finds out Delphine is gone - until she gets a message and information from her Eskimo Pie (<3) which sends her and Scott running into action.

But she’s still scared, and she’s still really, really sick. And it’s Delphine who is able to comfort her, who is her strength, even if it’s just in a dream.

I had been wanting a scene of Cosima begging Delphine not to leave since the second time Cosima told Delphine “Get out,” because I wanted to see evidence of Cosima’s love for Delphine. This scene, though, was such a perfect replacement for that.

And don’t even get me started on the book that Cosima reads about the puppy following the explorer all the way to the end. I am just getting chills thinking about it! What perfect foreshadowing for all of us, what a perfect way to subtly give us all (us as viewers, and Cosima hopefully as well) hope and faith that Delphine is not far and will not be gone from Cosima’s side for long.

So in conclusion, I think this little moment was an incredibly important few seconds that showed us a side of the relationship we haven’t been seeing most of this season. And I loved it.

x

Before Orphan Black I was in the Vanessa Hudgens/HSM/Zac&Vanessa fandom for literally 8 years and that was a Disney movie and I fell in love with ZV as a result, so I get this so much. That's exactly what it feels like. I honestly didn't think I'd ever be in another fandom after that, but then OB came along and these two sucked me in before I could even realise it was happening.

After Skins and PLL, I didn't think there was a fandom I could be as THAT into. Or there was a couple I could love as much as Naomily and Paily, respectively. And I never went into OB expecting to love it so much (since I started watching at the beginning, before anyone knew anything about it) and I certainly had no intention going in that I was gonna stan for a ship. But here we are. I kinda just fell for Cophine the moment they were first on screen together and it's been like that ever since, tbh. They were my "doomed ship" that managed to survive S1, and then S2, and they've just had so many beautiful moments together ... I never expected any of this. But they stole my heart in 105 and I've never asked for it back.
