Love their relationship, sometimes seems like Carson knows Mary better than anyone else. It's strange that the "cold and careful" (insert ironic face) Lady Mary has a more deep relationship with downstairs people than upstairs ones. |

Although I think if Carson didn't ask her how she was, Mary wouldn't cry like that. Or she may be just waiting for someone to console her and so glad that it was Carson who came over.

I agree definitely she broke because Carson was there, and she would have done the same if Anna was there (like we knew she did in 2x01).

I love that Carson knows how Mary feels for Matthew and is always on her side. Very loyal and she's certainly his favourite.

I think their relationship is something that some daughters feel whenever they're talking to their father - like they can't tell their fathers everything. And that's what Carson/Mary are.
