I always love their scenes especially when he asks her how she's feeling and she just freely opens up to him.

I think it's great that they continued this on in S2 when Carson collapses and Mary goes to see him and he tells her to tell Matthew that she loves him because if she didn't, then she might regret it all her life long. To show the depth of this relationship, I don't think even Robert has these types of conversations with Mary.

I don't think Robert has this type of conversation with any of his girls(maybe only Isis) that's way I'm so glad Mary at least has Carson as a father figure in her life

Carson is definitely another father figure for Mary. The things she can't say to her father, she tells Carson.

I think both seasons did a very good job of showing the importance of their relationship. I love that he's been there for her when maybe Mary needed a father to talk to.

I love that as well! Carson certainly boosted Mary's confidence to tell Matthew about how she feels. Only of course we know what happened.
