I don't know if their is anyone else who feels this way, but I don't like Phoebe and Mike together. I wish she had ended up with David instead.

I agree! Mike is so blah, no better than other pointless characters like Janine, Tag, Joshua. He's just a youngish, pretty boy with a Karaoke bar. Big whoop tee do!

And then they made him divorced and have rich parents, which actually makes him even more like Joshua, and the whole awkward dinner with his parents in season 9 was very reminiscent of Rachel's New Dress encounter with Joshua's parents. Boring!

David blows Mike away easily. He called her "luminous with a kind of delicate grace" the first time he met her. He was sweet and shy and quirky and cute. Anytime they kissed, or he looked at her, the screen would melt.

Damn those writers!

I know! And Phoebe and Mike really loved each other, and each time he went to Minsk, she was always so upset!

PERFECT thread for me. ITA! I love David and I was EXTREMELY ticked that the writers went with the zombie like dud known as Mike for the guy that was to be the one to capture Phoebe's heart. Yeah right. Never in a million years will I ever be convinced that Phoebe would EVER go for a dull bore like Mike. NO freaking way.

I even hated how Mike interacted with the other five. I don't even think he tried to get to know the other five in the least. Even Ross found it difficult to get to know Mike in the episode where they were together while Rachel and Phoebe were out. Ross and Mike were just sitting there and Ross was extremely uncomfortable with him. Just proves how hard it was to get to know Mike.

I also COMPLETELY despised how initially Ross and Chandler were not even in the wedding! I know, Phoebe is to blame on this one also but Mike certainly is to blame on this. And then he tries to make Rachel pick between Ross and Chandler as one opening develops. THEN he had the nerve to try and take it back whenever the idiot decides he wants his DOG to be in the wedding. How lame was that? It made me hate Mike even more.

David was perfect for Phoebe. They had chemistry off the charts and David's dorky but yet zesty and cute personality was so adorable and it only highlighted Phoebe all the more. I loved David and Phoebe and I will always be disgusted that the writers missed the mark with ditching the perfect David in favor of the dull, unemotional, and total bore known as Mike.

I couldn't agree more. I mean, in season 1, they really loved each other, it broke her heart to see him go. Then he came back in, i think it was Season 7, and he had to leave again, and she was broken hearted again. Then when he came back in Season 9, when Phoebe first saw him, she looked so happy and over Mike. Then suddenly she wasn't over him. It made no sense, and I'm still so mad that she didn't end up with David.

I agree Rach. I am so also. As you pointed out, David was a long running guy in Phoebe's life that she always had strong feelings for. It would have been so neat if the writers would have shown that Phoebe found her one true love early on but had to be without him for a while, only to reunite and reaffirm he was the one for her all along.

You are so right, it made NO SENSE how the writers initially showed Phoebe as being so happy to see David in 9, only to all of a sudden make it seem as if Phoebe wasn't feeling it with David but was all about the milk dud Mike.. So lame.

I would love to ask the writers why they thought Mike was a better fit for Phoebe. I could not imagine hearing anything solid on this. Yep, the writers were with their choice of pushing aside David for Mike. What the hell were they thinking? And I usually LOVE the brilliance of these writers. But, certainly not during this one.

The most insulting part was that they brought David back for that episode just before Barbados, then had Phoebe dump him in the next episode for Mike. Why bother bringing David back at all, just to get our hopes up and spite us?

Phoebe seemed already over Mike to me. If she wasn't over Mike, then why did she forget about Mike's party and go off with David instead? They keep making us think that she's done with Mike, then come back and tell us that she's totally in love with him. Bleh.

Worse still was the fact that they told us in the season 10 premiere that Mike had a girlfriend for 3 months before Barbados, and that he didn't even mention it to Phoebe while he was there. What a big two-timing jerk!

I heard that Mike was contracted to appear in 10 episodes in season 10, but he was there for a lot less episodes. If Phoebe's boyfriend/fiancee was going to be seen that little during the season, why couldn't that guy have been David? Hank Azaria couldn't be too busy to show up a few times to tape some scenes, right? And Phoebe could have talked about him when he wasn't there. What the heck was so special about Mike, huh?

I agree! David is Phoebe's soul mate, they're meant to be. He loved her SO MUCH and she loved him too, and Mike really doesn't match with Phoebe. He's the kind of guy a regular girl would date, not Pheebs.

What's everybody's favorite Phoebe/David moment? I love in season 1 when she gets him to sweep off the stuff on the table and then she hops on so he can kiss her. And when they said goodbye at the New Year's party it was so heartbreaking.

I also liked their meeting in season 7, and saying goodbye again, then Joey consoles her.

Their best moment in season 9 is when he says that he's back in New York for good, and she goes off to have a drink with him instead of going to Mike's sister's party. If only Barbados hadn't happened. GRR!

The biggest mistake ever was Phoebe ending up with Mike, and in my mind they'll soon divorce or find out that the marriage was illegal and bigamous because of Phoebe's unresolved marriage in Vegas. Then Phoebe will leave him and reunite with David.

I sure enjoyed the episode when he threw everything off the table and instead of him lifting her up she hopped up herself.

I think my favorite moment is when he comes back, the goodbye is so sad. And then Joey comes and consoles her...so cute.
