trashy? how so?

I love the characters but the writing is so cheesy sometimes ahahaha. LJ is too old fashioned with them is the problem

Very different. He has black eyes and black hair slicked back, he's not as immature as Show Damon, not as tall either, he doesn't spew pop culture references, he treats Elena's friends differently, he has a different history with Stefan, etc.

That's what people used to say about the books though. When most people talked about it, they didn't take it seriously. I read the first 6 books and I have to admit, it wasn't the best writing but I did like reading an alternative to what was happening on the show.

I wish I could agree about the 4th book but book!Bonnie drives me up the wall and the 4th book was told from her point of view so it was practically maddening. I think show!Bonnie is WAYYYYY better than book!Bonnie. I don't always agree with everything she does but at least TV!Bonnie always stands for something and she has strength behind her. I never felt that way about book!Bonnie. I think Kat Graham definitely brought something "more" to the role.

There's some things that were written in the books that I'd probably never want to see in the show like the hell dimension with the slaves.

that would be interesting I think. I wonder depending on how long the show goes, if the book would pick up where it left off.
