Just watched 5x12 - the first episode where they are paired up...
They brought something different to the show, s5 was the first season where Nell was considered to be more like an agent than a tech/IT genius __________________

They seemed to be on equal footing from the start... Deeks didn't want to "shape" Nell into his type of an agent nor Nell wanted to make Deeks to become less of himself...
I don't know, they just seemed to work well together... Not as well as with Kensi, but definitely better than with early-seasons-Sam for example... __________________
