NCIS: New Orleans Season 6 Scoop: Apollyon is Dead, We Meet Dwayne's Mother, Sebastian Joins REACT, and More!

Quote:
Season six will see a return to the more local, New Orleans-focused cases, as well as personal stories. “Especially as we start the season, the cases, even if they’re not more personal, they do seem that we are living in a space where things have real repercussions on our characters,” executive producer Jan Nash tells Parade.com in this exclusive interview. “So, I think that we might at least for some amount of time step back from the larger cases that involve large conspiracies or political organizations and things like that and deal with things that have real, emotional and personal stakes for our characters.”
'NCIS' Season 17: Cote de Pablo Opens Up About Playing Ziva Again After Five-Year Absence (Exclusive)

Quote:
Was there a bit of a learning curve settling back into Ziva's shoes?

It's funny. I know this character so well and I've loved this character, shaped this character with such passion that when we started talking about bringing the character back, I got really excited about the idea of potentially going back to the show. The moment I went back on set, I felt like I had revisited so much of the character already, that it felt like slipping into those comfortable shoes right back with the family. Right back where I left off. Our job was to justify these past five years and make that a compelling inner monologue for the character, so that you could justify her actions presently. Like I said, it was really fun and completely comfortable. The moment I started engaging as Ziva with Gibbs, it felt like, "Great, here we are again. I know how to do this."

Since you left in 2013, Ziva's presence has been felt throughout the undercurrent of the series. Has that been surreal to know that your character made such an impact?

I always was fascinated by her. I thought she was funny. I thought there was something about her that at times was kind of sexy, but I liked the fact that she never sacrificed the integrity of her work for any of those other things. She wasn't funny for the sake of being funny. She wasn't sexy for the sake of being sexy. The situations and the circumstances dictated who she was and who she became along the way.

Certain people are responding to something that is happening very organically here and that was a fascinating journey for me. In many ways, I felt compelled to protect that and hold that in a dear place. I think, yes, I think you'll see a lot of things in Ziva that are very old, and a couple of things that obviously are new.

Thanks for the new thread

We also had this news which was one of the last posts of the thread too:

Quote:
'NCIS' Bosses Say Ziva's Story Goes 'Full Circle' in Season 17: It Is an Emotional 'Bookend' (Exclusive)

Quote:
In the season opener, titled "Out of the Darkness," de Pablo's Ziva David cryptically warns Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) that he is in danger, prompting him to question why she remained underground for the last several years while allowing him and key members of the NCIS team believe she was dead. The intense season 17 trailer reveals the former colleagues running away from explosions and surprise attacks, as they run from a dangerous woman named Zahar, who has deep connections to Ziva's past. De Pablo is currently slated to appear in five episodes.

The series will reach the rare 400-episode milestone toward the end of the season. "We still pinch ourselves every day that we have this fan base that continues to follow the show. that we've done as well in season 16 as the show did in seasons five or six," Cardea says. "It's something that we are very grateful for and do not take for granted. A lot of it is a great testament to Mark Harmon. He is the leader of this family and he takes that responsibility very seriously."
That's just a small bit from the intro bit, there's an interview when you click the link

Thanks for that article Hanna . I have a feeling I've read before about that
Spoiler:

Thanks Logan for bringing over those numbers - I've moved your post over to the news thread since it fits better here

NCIS: Los Angeles EP R. Scott Gemmill on Who’s Returning, Who’s Missing and Who Is Making Life and Career Changes in Season 11
^ interesting article, teases a little about what the different characters may be up to or have to face during the season (not really any spoilers in it)

'NCIS: LA': Catherine Bell Says Reprising 'JAG' Character After 14 Years Is 'Surreal' (Exclusive)
^ this confirms that at least Catherine Bell only appears in the season premiere. She is however open to appearing again

Ratings:
Quote:
NCIS (Sept 24)
12.57 million viewers
Adults 18-49 rating/share: 1.3/7

NCIS: New Orleans (Sept 24)
6.66 million viewers
Adults 18-49 rating/share: 0.7/4

NCIS is about the same as last season's premiere - which surprises me a little as I would've thought it would've been higher with the return of Ziva. Even the episode 'She' had more viewers than this ep & it didn't have Ziva in it. Then unfortunately for NOLA looks like its ratings are dropping still each season. Maybe they need to learn that people don't want to watch the Pride show & it doesn't have the same feel or pull as the other two shows do

I guess many people were skeptical about Ziva's return still. I'm almost certain that rating will increase next week... I'm not too surprised about NOLA, hopefully the new season has some non-Pride related plotlines to attract more viewers...

Thanks for the articles.

Also ratings are not as high anymore due to streaming. I thought yeah NCIS would have more viewership or same night rating. We shall see how it does in the in the live plus when they count watching it later, or delayed viewership.

But the fact is ratings are lower than they used to. Maybe it will do better next week once people know it's a two parter.

People don't feel the need to watch live much anymore...

But then viewership is still higher than most shows given it's a 17 year old show. So it's still impressive.

Maybe people were skeptical or didn't watch live, but it still seems a bit strange when we actually had the proof that she was going to be in the ep that it didn't appear to boost the ratings. Saying that people don't watch TV anymore isn't saying much as the ratings for the past two seasons have been pretty steady between 12-13 million viewers & even when it does drop bellow 12 million it isn't by much. The highest rated episode of season 16 was "She" after the boost from the Ziva teasing as it was watched by 13.37 million viewers. So to me it is a surprise that actually having Cote de Pablo didn't give it a boost like the "She" episode received. Of course we'll never know what the numbers would've been without Cote being in this episode so maybe there still was a boost but it doesn't feel like much of one

Never said it wasn't impressive Just that I would've expected higher - in fact the fact that this show can get good ratings on its own is part of why I would have expected higher. I would expect around what we got regardless because NCIS can pull those sorts of numbers on its own

NOLA doesn't surprise me either. They need to figure out what viewers actually want to see to keep them watching

Excellent that is more of the sort of numbers I would expect for Ziva's return

In the end NOLA got 9.5 million viewers in the Live+3 rating. (source)

The LA season premiere rating (live+same day, I think) : 6.4 mil/0.8 (source)
