Yanina, I don't know if they submitted TIP or not, but I agree that it is a wonderful episode not only for Mayim, but for Jim as well. Both were really good in it.

and back to Mayim's Emmy submission discussion, I really do hope they send TIP as one of the other episodes submissions, that would really help Mayim's case. Do any of you guys know if they already submitted TIP on the first set of 6 episodes maybe?

Well, I think also TLA or TCR would help Mayim a lot.

We don't know the official submissions in the comedy series category yet. They're likely to submit the 3 they submitted for the nominations: TOD, TBTI and TCR. Normally, if they think they have a chance to win in the Comedy series category, they would not submit an episode like TIP. Since they don't really have much of a chance and they should know it (no writing or directing nods = no win), then they should submit episodes like TIP or TPGE that showcase Mayim, as well as other episodes that showcase Jim.

TLA and TCR are good examples of episodes that are good to improve both Jim/Mayim chances and the show's.

The acting categories are judged by a different voting group than the Series category, so what would really help Mayim is if Jim submits an episode that also features her.

I thought the series catagory was voted on by everyone. I thought it was Best Actors (past and present nominees) vote for Best Actor, Best Directors vote for Best Directors, etc etc and then everyone in the academy votes for best Comedy/Drama.

But I could be assuming that based on what they do with the Oscars (which is exactly that)

Yes, everyone votes for series. Actors vote for actors. My understanding is that Actors might watch the episodes in their categories and then vote in the categories voted on by everyone like Series based only on what they watch in their own category. Therefore, it benefits acting nominees more if other acting nominees of their shows submit episodes that help them. That's part of the secret of MF's success at the Emmys. It helps them a lot that all 6 main actors get to submit individual episodes in the acting categories.

I guess where my confusion lies is I'm thinking, for example, Mayim and people voting for Mayim will only be watching the "Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy" episodes plus whatever episodes are submitted for "Best Comedy", but not any of the other acting categories, therefore what Jim submits would have no bearing on how they vote for Mayim.

I'm still not entirely sure of the politics behind the whole thing either, so...because of that, I'm just not sure TSTM was the best way for Mayim to go. That said, I was thinking it would be a good submission if the point was not to showcase her acting, per say, but rather her ability to properly SUPPORT the lead actors.
