Taylor really seemed to be into the idea of a Gambit movie if it was stripped down and something like Logan, a darker take on his backstory that isn't super flashy and stripped down. I would be more inclined to see something like that as opposed to something with all the bells and whistles that usually come along with those super hero type movies. Which is part of the reason I think he gave up on green screen or at least didn't want to do it for awhile, I'm not sure he enjoys movies like that much.

Will Channing Tatum Direct the Gambit Movie Himself?

I don't think it's going to happen, it was reported this past week by someone who is reputable that the movie isn't happening at all now. That all the Marvel movies that are not currently in production will not survive the Fox/Disney merger. It'll be scrapped.

And the inevitable has finally been confirmed. Maybe they'll decide to make it at some point but I'd imagine both Taylor and Channing will be too old by then to play him.

As long as Channing doesn’t do it!

I fear Gambit may never get a standalone movie and probably not with Taylor now that it's a Disney property.

I only want it with Taylor. No Taylor, no interest.

I have no interest in any superhero movie (minus maybe Batman/Joker) so if Taylor isn't involved it's a definite no for me.

For the most part I agree. I told the kids I have zero desire to watch the avengers movies with them. All 22 of them.

This is the article of the day, Chris Hemsworth lost out on Gambit to Taylor, though he calls it a blessing in disguise because he never would have been able to be Thor if he was Gambit. Which is true, the failure of that X-Men Origins movie really kind of screwed Taylor in more ways than one. I feel like he's been hampered from taking on another super hero role because a) he's already been Gambit and b) he's gun shy to take on another role like Gambit/John Carter because both failed so spectacularly (by now fault of his own).

Now with Disney owning the rights to the X-Men characters it's even less likely we'll see Taylor land there.

I sense that if Taylor expressed interest in one of these superhero movies or shows, he'd still be welcomed. Probably not Gambit, or one of the huge characters like Batman, Superman, etc., because those roles are so sought-after. But definitely one on the level of Green Lantern, Ghost Rider, etc., or even a villain. He's gorgeous, athletic, young, and a familiar face to the masses but not too famous.

I think it was in the GQ article that the author mentioned that Taylor shared, off the record, some of the things he's turned down, which shocked her. I'd guess there were probably some pretty high profile, possibly franchise roles in there that he just didn't want to take on.

True. I could see him being offered Hawkeye before it went to Jetemy Renner.
