I want Jason to have scenes with Elizabeth, since they share Jake together. (Just see Jason/Elizabeth as friends)

Am wondering why the writers brought Jake back if they never wanted Liason. I mean why have Jake be a connection if the writers never want them romantically ? Makes no sense
