Love Story

Jack Deveraux abandoned his political ambitions and became controlling owner of The Spectator, Salem's local newspaper. This was where he first became involved with college intern Jennifer Horton. Jennifer was involved with Emilio Ramirez but the more she demanded the truth from Jack and called him on the wrongs he committed, the more he secretly fell for her.

When Jennifer wanted to help a jail-bound woman named Sally, whose baby daughter was going to go into foster care. Jack concocted the idea of a fake marriage so they could take care of the baby. It didn't work out as planned but Jennifer ended up taking care of the baby for a while, and Jack's interactions with her endeared him to Jennifer along with his mission to help Steve and Kayla. They ultimately fell in love. Many other complications ensued including the return of Emilio along with mysteries and adventures, but Jack and Jennifer finally married. They later had children Abigail and Jack Jr. Jack (supposedly died again) a hero saving his daughter's life.

Update: Jack is back & alive again & reunited with Jennifer & his family.

IMPACT:

Jack and Jennifer are considered to be the last true successful "Supercouple" from DAYS OF OUR LIVES. Their story was unique in the sense that there was a tragic but comedic element at the forefront. Jack was tormented by his past (the rape of Kayla along with learning he was really Steve and Adrienne's long lost brother) but was inspired to be a better man thanks to Jennifer. We watched them match wits, and it was fun.

The couple won Soap Opera Digest Awards as Favorite Supercouple in 1991, and then Best Wedding and Best Love Story in 1992. Days Best Supercouple Of All -Time Soap Opera Update as well. (1991)

When DAYS OF OUR LIVES "re-booted" the show in 2011, they brought Melissa Reeves and Matthew Ashford on to the canvas once again to play out the Jack and Jennifer story. The fact that the show has continued to bring Ashford back (despite always firing him later) is a testament to the power and impact of the original Jack and Jennifer love story.- We Love Soaps

I think that Eve wouldn't have been that much of an issue in this storyline if it was written as Jack trying to believe in Eve but he can't because of his strong love for Jennifer that he can't even explain.

And yeah... I didn't want to mention it since I know how much you aren't a fan of them.
But it was one of the first instant storylines I thought about which can be sort of comparable... because I've seen a lot of JnJ fans complain about the story.... and I said I can't be bias and I can understand it!

Because when Nik had amnesia... his pull was strong towards Emily even though Mary was trying to manipulate him... just like Eve is trying to do. He even said his soul is pulling towards her even if he didn't understand why.

So I think for Jack people really want to see him struggle! It seems like we see a second of it being possible and than he's just back to Eve again!

And the connection with Eve doesn't make any sense to me since he knows what a liar she has been.

Probably the biggest difference with the storylines is that Emily wasn't pushing him to remember.... she was just going along with what he was believing.
And I'm hoping that it will be the same for Jennifer, since she's not pushing, maybe we an see Jack start falling in love? and I want it to happen BEFORE his memory comes back because it would just be more impactful that way. I was them to be the ones that have that connection even without the memories.

We really saw even more of Jack/JJ connection than Jack/Jen. But I am keeping hope that things will change.

RC didn't have Will love Sonny either. So I'm starting to think Jack won't remember his love for Jennifer until he gets him memory back which makes their love/connection seem weak to me.

I actually didn't have much of an issue with the Will/Sonny thing. I guess because at that time I wasn't enjoying Sonny. I was rooting on Paul/Will and unlike Jack, Will was much more enjoyable with more personality without his memory....

But yeah, it seemed like Will only really had the connection with Marlena...
And I just see a pattern... I believe that with memory loss stories, the person seems to go to the person who puts the less pressure on them to remember.

That's why I am hoping it'd be like that with Jack/Jennifer... probably since she doesn't pressure him anymore, it'll happen naturally?

Luckily though, it doesn't seem like he loves Eve at all...

I can see him just copying that SL over with Jack not loving Eve the only difference.

^ At this point it's tough to know where this story is going. I think majority agree that the Jack/Eve stuff can end... probably it would've been more tolerable if they had some kind of chemistry? but they don't even have that.

So I just need it to stop ASAP. lol

Especially since it seems Jen will stay far away....

I can just hope so much that it gets better because I do believe Jack does have some kind of feelings towards Jen that he's not ready to admit to himself.

Hoping we get that when Jennifer returns to town since she left for a few weeks...

Good thing is that Jack has been having dreams to connect with Jennifer... seems his memory will slowly return to him.
