Criminal Minds - Board Recustomisation

Hi everyone ,

The Fan Forum Graphics Team is in the process of (re)customising message boards and now it's your turn!

If you have any picture or colour suggestions please post them in this thread. Don't post (hotlink) the pictures, links to them are fine. Make sure that the pictures are of as high quality as possible and that the top of the head of the person in the picture isn't cropped off. We also like to use photoshoot images when possible, preferably individual pictures of each cast member. When suggesting colours please keep in mind that some colours will work better than others. The Team usually tries to avoid really vibrant and dark colours because we have found in the past that they are hard to look at for long periods of time. If you would like some help coming up with colour combinations we recommend checking out the Color Palettes or Coolors websites. As we want every board to have their own unique look it is preferable that you do not link to the customisations of other boards as suggested colour schemes.

Everyone is encouraged to voice their opinions for this as you are the ones who will be posting on the board and we hope to make as many people happy with the finished result as possible. It does not matter if you are a board moderator, regular poster, or casual poster here. If you have a suggestion, please share it here with us .

Your suggestions for possible pictures and colours will be taken into serious consideration, but in the interest of seeing every board receive the best customised look possible the final decision concerning how this board will be customised will be made by the members of the Graphics Team. This is because we want to make sure that the selected graphic and colours fit into the overall design scheme that we've established for Fan Forum.

For a full explanation of the message board customisation process, see this thread. If you have any questions, please feel free to send Mel, Chelle, or Kate a PM or ask the Team on the message board customisation thread.

Please leave this topped until a week or so after the board has been (re)customised.

Note: It usually takes approximately two weeks for us to finish making the new banner and the sooner we know what you want, the more we can work on it (though it can take a few months or so to set it up with the new colours on the board), so please let us know your suggestions as soon as possible.

When the Team have finished making the graphic I will close this thread until the graphic and colours get put up. It will then be re-opened so that you can share your thoughts about it.

I guess the real question is whether or not to update it to just the current cast.

I'd say either make it more current with the current cast in Evolution or one with all the cast members.

The big cast one is nice since it includes all the main team members over all the seasons but it also might be harder to use since it's got so many people in the picture and might be too big

The first image you linked to has 16 characters which is the max amount we add into the graphics so if would want all of those characters it is possible

Neither of the other links you linked to will be usable for the graphic. Ideally we will need HQ individual pictures of each character you would like included or a clear group picture where we will be able to cut out each character to add them into the graphic.

If you wanted a mix of both old & new you could always have the older characters from smaller, then the current characters more prominent & larger.

Having a mix of past and present characters might be nice, especially since there are some characters who are no longer on but were a huge part of the show and its success.

Agreed! Morgan, Reid, and Hotch for sure need to still be on the banner. Basically, everyone on the current banner should for sure still be on it

Are you able to list all the characters you'd like included? Are there individual pictures for each of them?

1. Emily Prentiss
2. David Rossi
3. Penelope Garcia
4. Jennifer Jareau
5. Tara Lewis
6. Luke Alvez
7. Spencer Reid
8. Aaron Hotchner
9. Derek Morgan
10. Jason Gideon

I feel like those characters listed above are the most important to include

I'm trying to find some individual shots of the cast for the recent season but there only seems to be group photos (like this one) and no actual individual ones. The Criminal Minds Facebook page posted these photos but they're kind of small and obviously the text parts would have to be taken out

You wouldn't want more characters like from the picture you posted earlier which had more former characters in it?

Individual pictures can be harder (from my experience CBS is terrible at releasing things at times too which doesn't help). I'm glad you were able to find some though

That group picture may be usable, depending on placement of the characters. It is clear by the FB images they have done individual pictures. Even this which you posted a version of before hints towards there being some they're keeping to themselves too. That image if it was a bit bigger may be usable but the colouring may be awkward to work with. This ]page makes me feel like S13 may be the last batch of individuals you got but even then I only could see a couple of characters with individuals on other sources. That S13 group shot would be easy to cut characters from if there's a better quality version of it. It is just unfortunate it is a few years/seasons old.

ETA: I don't know if you will like these but I did find some alternatives here. Some are the same as what you posted but higher quality versions. I found the same image of Jason Gideon as you did which is why he's not in there.

The character names that you listed are pretty good, as far as who should be in Board picture .

Yeah, I agree about CBS not being the best with their pictures, especially when it came to Criminal Minds.

I do like the idea of having all the members since so many people were involved with the show and if there are new members coming to the board they might be watching an older season with former characters.

For other characters that can be included, I'd say Matt Simmons, Alex Blake, and Elle Greenaway. Blake and Simmons were on for more than one season and although Elle was just on for a little over one season, she was part of the original team.

For colors, whenever I think of Criminal Minds, I feel like red and burgundy colors come to mind.

For colours red shades can be harsh so are normally used minimally. Are there other colours which you feel could be used with the red/burgundy shades? We could look at softer red shades like pinks/peach shades if you wanted. But any colour would go with red/burgundy shades. A quick search I did see this & this which would be those softer pink/peach-type shades.
