 Classic Comics Saturday --- Those ’70s Comics: 720 Inspired by episode 509 - “Black Dog”  --- Comments: The show contradicts itself on Jackie’s like/dislike of beards and Hyde’s beard in particular depending on the episode and season. Adding new scenes to the beginning of this episode allowed me to call back to Kelso and Fez’s beard-growing in season 3 and to give character-consistent context to Jackie’s wish for Hyde to shave off his beard. --- Colleen, thank you!  __________________

 Classic Comics Sunday --- Those ’70s Comics: 721 Inspired by episode 509 - “Black Dog”  --- Comments: Kelso’s comments in the tenth panel highlight what we’re shown in the following ones: that Steven makes Jackie think, as she states herself in “Celebration Day” (5x25). I wanted to show explicitly in the comics what we’re often told and not shown -- or not shown nearly enough -- in the series about Jackie and Hyde’s relationship. Also, Eric’s comment in the fifth panel -- he doesn’t know yet about Point Place Time™. --- Colleen, thank you!  __________________

Classic Comics Saturday --- Those ’70s Comics: 722 Inspired by episode 509 - “Black Dog”  --- Comments: Red’s view on Nixon in this episode is diametrically opposed to his POV, attitude, and storyline in “Streaking” (1x03) -- and essentially all of seasons 1 and 2. His “Streaking” characterization seems more in-character than his “Black Dog” one. I prefer a Red who’s thinks critically and analytically about what goes on in his country and how it affects his family. One who accepts facts instead of dismissing them (for whatever reason). So I changed this scene to keep Red’s original characterization intact. I also wrote and illustrated the scene where Red drives Jackie home. I, like many T7S fans, wish Jackie and Red had more interactions after “Career Day” (1x18), and I took the opportunities where I could to explore their relationship. __________________

Classic Comics Sunday --- Those ’70s Comics: 723 Inspired by episode 509 - “Black Dog”  --- Comments: Since Jackie’s mom isn’t home in the episode but in Mexico, she had to learn the news about her dad from someone. Her being told to go home makes little sense, though, considering we never learn of any relatives or close family friends who might be “on call” in case of emergency. Kitty should have been the one to tell Jackie about her dad -- and she and Red should’ve helped her with the fallout since Jackie clearly had no one else. __________________
