I loved Brandon's rant in that scene

Would he? I think I commented on that before. There would actually a big difference if the guy did that (what do you mean exactly - I guess kissing him in a neck and sneaking into his bed?), because he would be able to rape the other person. Emily was not able to rape Brandon.

And yet the gang act as if Brandon went "too far" in yelling at her? Wow seriously, he didn't go far enough.

I am somewhat ambivalent to it. I do understand his anger, but a public humiliation was ugly, and also some stuff he said was really unnecessarily harsh. IDK.

It's funny how both twins yelled at Emily in S2 with the gang being all uncomfortable Brenda in Wildfire, Brandon in My Desperate Valentine. Pretty much how her saga in West Beverly started and ended.

I get your point, but a lot of offenses were committed by Emily: Stalking, drugging him at the club, harassment (the phone calls), sexual harassment (sneaking into his room and trying to have sex with him without his consent), then of course threatening to burn the float (where FINALLY she faces up to her own mental fragility).

Back then, audiences probably found it funny how Brandon was being harassed by a woman and will have thought he was weak in not being able to confidently break up with her. But now, I see it through a lenses by which if the genders were reversed, it would likely be taken more seriously by audiences. -- Emily's behavior towards Brandon was scary - if not altogether criminal in terms of assault. I think she did enough things to genuinely terrify Brandon. It definitely showed in how he was too afraid to tell his parents about the crank calls.

I do enjoy full-circle dynamics

If I'm not mistaken, I recall Christine Elise saying on the DVD features that she had some off-screen tension with Shannen that played into those scenes with her where Brenda was jealous of Emily/Dylan. She said she was reduced to tears at times.
