I loved the tension between them in Season 4 when Mel and Jackie were mid-divorce. It was just so realistic how they were forced to take sides.

And that scene in the Season 2 cap

Yeah. I think Kelly handled it better though. David unnecessarily started the fight with her. I also don't get why he was so rude about Jackie. She's always been nice to him. She even let him stay in the house after the divorce.

It was super sweet. Whenever David just opened up and was being himself, he was much more likeable. And he had more success in approaching Kelly.

I think David was mad because Mel was mad/upset, and he was mad at David for trying to defend Jackie. The whole thing was a mess

It was that awkward thing for David, knowing that his Dad was in the wrong, but, well, he's still his father - and he didn't want to lose him.

The David/Kelly friendship was so special

Loved it. I loved the whole family dynamic, and I kinda hated that the writers had Mel cheat. It came out of nowhere. Suddenly he had a problem with commitment again? REALLY?

I was not so surprised, given his history. However, it came too soon. I guess the point was to make us feel as much sympathy for Kelly as possible, given that Dylan was going to choose her over Brenda, and she was the one who betrayed her friend.

yeah. I wonder if writers planned to involve them romantically early on the show. I think Donna/David were not a plan this early.

I don't see that in S1. I think they came up with it in between seasons, to somehow give Donna more to do by giving her boyfriend. That's why Kelly and David became step-siblings, to neutralize the possibility of their relationship.
