so I was at my parent's house listening to some of the old records and put on The Everly Brothers, and the song "Bye Bye Love" came on and it was like being slammed over the head with a 90210 childhood memory
I had the strongest vision of it being on a promo (aired in australia, it might have been different in the US), and I thought it might have been around the end of season 2, because it was involving Kelly/Jake...again this is my bad memory so I may be wrong, it could have been from early season 2, but I think it was definitely sometime in the second season. But I don't have any of those eps on tape anymore to check, and I just looked at the music list and it's not there? can anyone remember when this song was played? or else they just put it on for the Australian promo when it wasn't in the ep? which could be possible? :look: anyway someone help please! :D |
Wow. :lmao: Um ... well I can understand the flashes. The Everly Brothers can sound like a lot of similar oldies groups, and the songs "Wake Up Little Susie" & "Be Bop A Lula" were both featured in the second season ("Beach Blanket Brandon", I think, and "Cardio-Funk").
If you had the original recordings on VHS, they might not work by now anyway. Some of mine from '94 died a couple years ago. They could definitely use a song for a promo and not include it in the episode. And it is really rather hard to remember a 30 sec spot you saw once or twice 16 years ago, much less the background music of one of them in particular, LOL. And your ads would be different. Sorry, no dice. But damn it, now I can swear "Bye Bye Love" played at the Peach Pit some time. |
 Well, season 1 is on soapnet now. I'll try to be on the lookout for that song!
|
You know what song I want? The one that plays when we're introduced to the beach in "Beach Blanket Brandon". It really kicks in when Steve is playing volleyball and Kelly tells him the news of Brenda and Dylan's break-up. Catchy as hell, but it's never listed.

:lmao: well thanks for trying guys! Keep a listen out on the reruns for me
I swear it was that song tho, and I swear I'm almost certain it was for the last ep of season 2, kelly was in the pink bridesmaid outfit and they showed jake, and then the voiceover guy was saying stuff about "saying goodbye" and I think they showed dylan drive off and brenda upset  I might try download the ep. I always remember the promo's so well because I would be literally on the edge of my seat so excited for the next episode  oh and you know I have one tape of the original recordings left and it still plays well it's the christmas ep from season 2, the pit and the pendulum (sp?) and the mr pony one, and I am thoroughly sick to death of those episodes now because I've watched them too much  |
They've always had catchy songs.

I'm listening to "Finger Poppin' Time" by Hank Ballard and the Midnighters (1.14) and it sounds remarkably like Chubby Checker's "The Twist". This is practically Vanilla Ice/Queen territory. Or Soho/The Smiths territory. :P
Season 2 ~ "The Party Fish" - Donald Fagen sings "Maxine", not Steely Dan "Summer Storm" - Missing R.E.M.'s "You Are The Everything" "Pass, Not Pass" - Maile Serenaders sings "The Hukilau Song" originally and, for the episode, it was Charles Kaipo and His Happy Hawaiians. "Wildfire" - Missing the following: Christine Elise - Mercedes Benz Janis Joplin - Mercedes Benz Neil Sedaka - Breaking Up Is Hard To Do Ray Stevens - Teenage Mutant Kung-Fu Chickens "Leading from The Heart" - Missing Karyn White - "Romantic" "The Next 50 Years" - misplaced quotation mark over the Garth Brooks song. "Chuckie's Back" - 'Rhythm' needs an 'h'. "Wedding Bell Blues" - Apparently the wedding band was doing a cover of "Blue Moon" instead by both The Platters and Elvis Presley. "Under the Boardwalk", by The Drifters and also Bette Midler. Haven't checked on this, lol. |
Thanks Mel!

Thanks Mel. I've updated everything.
But is this the name of the band "Charles Kaipo and His Happy Hawaiians?" And I wasn't sure what to update in the Wedding Belle Blues. |
Quote:
And here's a copy/paste-ready "Wedding Bell Blues": "Wedding Bell Blues" by The Fifth Dimension "Blue Moon" by The Platters (performed by the wedding singer) "Stand by Me" by Ben E. King (performed by the wedding singer) "Under The Boardwalk" by The Drifters (performed by the wedding band) "Do You Love Me?" by The Contours (performed by the wedding band) Also, an important correction. After a rewatch of "U4EA", I realized it's not "Hold On To Love" by T'pau but, instead, "The Beginning" by Seal. I'm still on the look-out for the song D/Dd originally dance to in "Chuckie's Back". |
Sheesh Mel. Nerd alert :P
|
Thanks, Mel. I added those corrections.
I still want to figure out that song that Shanti posted last year! |
I know!
:lmao: Indeed, Court. Taking S3 slower ... Quote:

I love Venus! I think it's the song I'm thinking of
|
Well, there's the 80's pop hit and the 'Peach Pit'-esque Oldie. Guess which one applies.
