More than 500 guests gathered in Tegernsee, southern Germany, to see Princess Elizabeth of Bavaria tie the knot with businessman Daniel Terberger in the society wedding of the year.

Undeterred by pouring rain, hundreds of well-wishers lined the bridal route to catch a glimpse of the princess, who was radiant in a ivory-coloured Duchess satin dress with her golden hair swept up into a chignon. Her sparkling tiara held in place a 200-year-old veil made of Brussels lace, which had also been worn by two of her sisters at their weddings.

At the festive reception, guests including political and celebrity figures were regaled with a menu comprising lobster ravioli, cream of spinach with poached quails' eggs, boeuf bourguignon and Count Pückler ice bombe with chocolate sauce

A few days prior to the wedding, 300 people had been invited to a special reception at the Schloss Nymphenburg by Prince Franz, Elizabeth's uncle and the current head of the House of Wittelsbach, which ruled Bavaria between 1180 and 1918.

The princess, who is the second-youngest daughter of Prince Max of Bavaria, met her 37-year-old bridegroom at the beginning of 2000 in one of the world-famous cafes in Vienna, the city where she was working at the time.

Jordan's Queen Rania, whose pregnancy was just revealed one month ago, was clearly showing a blossoming bump as she attended an Amman event in aid of disabled youngsters on Thursday.

Dressed discreetly in black trousers and a matching top fitted loosely over her changing figure, Rania showed no sign of slowing down as she met dozens of kids at the al-Hussein Society for the Rehabilitation of the Physically Challenged.

The 32-year-old royal, famously committed to children's causes, helped present more than 1,680 much-needed wheelchairs to the centre. Sponsored in part by American non-profit organisation The Wheelchair Foundation, the ambitious initiative aims to provide at least 12,000 wheelchairs to needy children across Jordan.

Denmark's royal leading ladies have been showing their arty side this week. Princess Alexandra stepped out on Wednesday to open an exhibition at the NB Gallery in Roskilde, while her sister-in-law Princess Mary did the honours at another show in Copenhagen.

Alexandra, who was her usual elegant self in a grey floral-print suit complemented by a cream hat, was making her first official appearance since the announcement that she and Prince Joachim are to divorce. A large crowd of well-wishers were there to greet the royal visitor, who seemed to be in good spirits throughout the event.

The Hong Kong-born princess' appearance comes hot on the heels of the news she is moving out of Amalienborg Palace. Royal officials have confirmed newspaper reports that she has bought a 270-square metre villa for £665,000. The 40-year-old will live in the former embassy in the Danish capital with her sons Nikolai and Felix.

Mary, meanwhile, received an equally warm welcome when she opened a new exhibit by the famous French photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand. Wearing a sharply-cut black suit with a mauve hat, Prince Frederik's pretty wife was given a guided tour of the show by the snapper himself.

OCTOBER 2004 http://www.hellomagazine.com

Princess Stephanie of Monaco has wasted no time in making her new beau part of the family, attending a Monaco football match with croupier Franck Brasseur and her six-year-old daughter Camille.

The couple, who became an item not long after the princess' July split with husband number two, circus acrobat Adans Lopez Peres, made a show of togetherness in the stands at the high-profile sporting event. When Franck wasn't showering kisses on his royal girlfriend, he was paying close attention to little Camille, sweeping her up into his arms.

Earlier this summer, Stephanie filed for divorce from 30-year-old Adans, her husband of ten months, whom she married in a secret ceremony last September. The 30-year-old acrobat later said that his constant travelling as well as the heavy media attention on the relationship contributed to the break-up.

With Australian-born Princess Mary's style-setting hats sparking trends from Denmark to Down Under, it's no wonder a Melbourne millinery fashion show is drawing special attention this year.

Mary, who married Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark in May, has taken to sporting fashionable headgear when undertaking her official duties, from cloche styles through to wide brims and even more elaborate creations. And the princess might just find plenty of inspiration at the Melbourne extravaganza, especially the event's crown jewel – the world's first million-dollar hat.

A white hat encrusted with diamonds, pearls, sapphire and topaz, the headpiece was designed to promote Australian millinery while also coinciding with the Melbourne Cup, the country's premiere horse race.

Valued at $1 million Australian dollars – just over £400,000 – the confection was one of many eye-catching new styles that perhaps might catch Princess Mary's fancy.

The show's crown jewel was a diamond-encrusted headpiece valued at $1 million Australian dollars

Thin Mary worries royal watchers
By HEATHER LOW CHOY
07 oct 04

DENMARK'S avid royal watchers have again raised concerns that Tasmanian-born Crown Princess Mary of Denmark is worryingly thin.

The Crown Princess, former Taroona schoolgirl Mary Donaldson, appeared gaunt yesterday as she accompanied husband Crown Prince Frederik to the Danish Parliament's opening ceremony.

Royal watchers fear life in the spotlight may be taking its toll on the Crown Princess, who married into Europe's oldest monarchy in May.

Public pressure to conceive, a heavy workload and recent spats within the royal family have been suggested as possible reasons for Princess Mary's diminishing proportions.

Last month the Danish royal family announced that Prince Frederik's younger brother Prince Joachim would separate from his wife Princess Alexandra.

Prince Joachim has since borne the brunt of the Danish public's separation anxiety.

He has been dubbed the "party prince" for spending time at rock concerts and sporting events rather than seeing to his royal duties.

Hard-working Princess Alexandra has picked up the slack and continued to do so at the Danish Parliament's opening day.

However, the strain showed on the elegantly attired royal's face.

Princess Mary, whose public-appearance outfits are becoming increasingly "mumsy" -- on occasion it seems as if she had raided Queen Elizabeth's wardrobe -- gave nothing away with her expression.

Only her very slight frame suggests that her rarefied life in the palace may not be the fairytale everyone had imagined it would be.

Märtha and Ari are in New York

Princess Märtha Louise, husband Ari Behn and their infant daughter Maud Angelica have finally made their planned move to America. They arrived in New York on Thursday. Curious media representatives tried to learn more as the family left Oslo's Gardermoen international airport, but got no news.

Princess Märtha Louise and her author husband will meet the press in Central Park in Manhattan on Monday. They are expected to tell the media what their plans are for their stay in the metropolis and how long they intend to live there.

The family already have clear plans to spend Christmas in Norway and will also come home to Oslo in good time for the arrival of their second child, which is due in mid-April and will be delivered at Rikshospitalet University Hospital in the capital.
