They might at some point be showing it as part of a short film series on the Sundance Channel (that's how I got a copy now)... but that won't be for at least a few months.

I'm not sure if it's available for rental yet.

Okay, I actually watched it last night before I went to bed.

The guy who plays the teacher sucked (Ryan will do MUCH better), but it's an interesting premise and story from what they got to tell in the shortened medium. In the full length film version, I think it'll work better and everything will be flushed out more too.

There's this teacher that this young girl is kind of intrigued by (not sexually or anything), so she starts like investigating him... it turns out he's a drug addict with some major personal issues. I won't give away the exact ending.

They had to skip over and ignore a lot of backstory/plot because the film's only 21 minutes long though, so I assume they'll do a lot more developing and a lot more building in Ryan's version, which is a full length feature. Plus, I assume Ryan will do a better job as the teacher than this poor dude did...

Does anyone know what the title: Half Nelson means or refers to???? Maybe one of you who saw the short film can give the answer.....

I didn't really get anything from the short film on that, no.

My total and utter guess, based on nothing but spec, would be that it refers to the attack move, where an attacker keeps your head shoved down and you're unable to move. Kind of the spot maybe the teacher feels he's in?

Probably a really off base one though.

I just can't think of what it could refer to, really. I can't remember the teacher's first name... or if they even said it the short film. Maybe that's got something to do with it?

I have no idea. But maybe it has something to do with the teacher's name or hopefully in Ryan's version they will explain it like in AWTR.
