Their ending suffered from the Lindsay storyline getting dragged out from the whole season 5 and Mark not planning on them leaving at all.

In what way would you have preferred for it to have been done? You would probably have to change some things in season 5 too.

The Lindsey stuff would have had to have ended when it should have - when she realised how he felt and left him. Would have had them work their way back to each other for the rest of season 5, maybe reuniting in the finale with the engagement mid season 6 and then the pregnancy being announced just before they left. I don't think we really needed to see the baby.

Tbh, I actually would have preferred for Lucas to end the relationship since it would shown some character growth since breaking up with someone who wasn't really interested in was always an big character flaw of his imo and I would have wanted the same with Peyton/Julian too. I would have also changed their breakup to having problems with long distance and completely erased the proposal at that point too. That also would have led to less issues for when they were trying to get back together as well.

I don't really mind how it ended, just as long as it ended around that time. Mutually would have been good, when they both realised how he felt.

Long distance would have been a better reason for the break up, too

That's definitely true, but I think it would have been nice and an better look for his character for Lucas to come to that realization first for once.

It sure would have, but Mark couldn't turn down the opportunity to make Luke's character look bad really
