Oh Season 1... when two of my friends were obsessing over this show, Sophia and Chad, had posters all over their rooms, etc. I was like "Come on, don't talk about this ****ty show in front of me. With the stupid actor and actress, big deal, it's probably not good at all'' That was 11-year-old ignorant me.
In a couple of months, I was really bored with the TV programmes, didn't have Internet and not too many options, so I said to my friend (that was sometime in late 2006, mid-season 4) OOk , can you put this show on a couple of DVDs and let me see what it's all about. I had received a new DVD player a couple of weeks before Xmas and it was perfect timing - of course, the episodes were illegally downloaded, because the show didn't air in my homecountry until late 2007/early 2008. That was my first US TV Drama ever, wasn't familiar with the Primetime format (only with the daytime soaps & telenovelas)and the "Seasons'' structure. So it was all very fancy and new to me - unfortunately, the first disc , which had Episodes 1-10 didn't work, so I had to start watching from 1x11 and I was instantly hooked. I was apologising to my friends literally the day after I watched 2 or 3 episodes for bashing the show and that's when it all started. And a month later, another friend of mine gave me a DVD with the first 10 episodes and the first 12 of Season 2 and they kept coming up until Season 4, Episode 6 or 7. Generally, it was a very exicitng season, I don't think I can name a weak or filler episode and even though I was only 11/12 years old when I started watching it, I really found something magical about it from the very first time, watching a random episode. The characters, the small town setting, the relationships - everything was so appealing and exciting to me. So mostly because of that story, Season 1 has a very special place in my heart. |

Thanks for sharing your story.
I started watching late too, because for some reason I was dead set against watching it for the longest time. Maybe because I was told it was another Dawson's Creek and I had a fierce loyalty to that show. I finally gave in and watched season one on Netflix all in the span of a few days. I kept saying " Okay one more episode then I need to go to bed". Well that didn't work out so well. So bottom line I found a spot for both One Tree Hill and Dawson's Creek in my life. |

Those are both good comparisons and I can totally see both of them.
I like the fact that both shows were filmed in Wilmington as well. I can't wait to go visit the locations for both shows. |
