Where We Left Off: In order to save Storybrooke, Regina let Henry destroy the town, sending everyone back to where they came from. But Emma and Henry, whose memories were changed to believe they've always been together, now reside in New York, where, one year after the curse consumed the town, Hook arrived at their door to enlist them for help because Emma's parents are in trouble.
What's Next: Regina and Robin Hood's potential future will be explored in the Enchanted Forest. Pinocchio, Phillip and Aurora will return, more of Emma's past will be revealed, and more worlds will be introduced, including possibly Oz, home of Rebecca Mader's mystery character, the Wicked Witch of the West. Plus: Christopher Gorham will play a mysterious character connected to Emma and Rapunzel.
TVLine Exclusive Bombshell: A Death Is Coming
Series creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis tell TVLine exclusively that the fantastical series will be killing off a major character during the second batch of 11 episodes (launching March 9), resulting in the exit of a series regular. “The character dies, for real,” Kitsis makes clear — at which point his/her portrayer will, make no mistake, leave the show.
Every series regular cast member is a possibility – except for Robert Carlyle. The EPs have agreed to rule out that one candidate, seeing as Rumplestiltskin is theoretically already “gone” (having sacrificed himself in the name of vanquishing Peter Pan).

Nothing is more important than family, and these characters' bonds are as strong as the line between good and evil is blurry. Mary Margaret and Emma - mother and daughter reunited -- were sucked into a portal that transported them to what was left of Fairy Tale Land. It was there that they met Mulan and Aurora, who helped them evade Cora and Hook and enabled them to travel back to Storybrooke, reuniting them with Emma's father, David, and her son, Henry. But Cora and Hook found another portal into town, where Cora set about reuniting with her own daughter, Regina. Cora then attempted to find Mr. Gold's dagger in a play to take him down and become the Dark One herself. Hook had also aspired to kill Mr. Gold, not for power but for revenge. And Mr. Gold set out to find his son, Bae, which he did, in New York, with the aid of Emma and Henry. Much to everyone's surprise, Bae turned out to be Emma's former love, Neal, and Henry's father. Back in Storybrooke, Mary Margaret did something completely against her nature - she used dark magic to kill Cora - causing her own heart to darken. And Greg Mendell -- who saw magic in the town as a boy and believes Regina knows where he can find his father - along with his partner, Tamara, planned to eradicate magic completely from our world using a trigger that Regina had planted within her curse. During the struggle to save Storybrooke, Neal was shot by Tamara and fell through a portal to the Enchanted Forest -- barely alive - where he was found by Aurora, Mulan and Prince Phillip. Although their plan was foiled, Greg and Tamara kidnapped Henry and brought him through a portal to their "Home Office," believing that they might still be able to use him to destroy magic in all worlds. With the aid of Hook and his ship, Emma, Mary Margaret, David, Mr. Gold and Regina used the last magic bean to follow Henry, Greg and Tamara... to Neverland.
First order of business this season: save Henry. But Neverland is a much darker place than you remember, and in order for our heroes to accomplish their mission, they'll have to face a foe more powerful than the Dark One himself. What does Peter Pan want with Henry? Can our heroes put aside their differences and work together? Will Aurora, Mulan and Prince Phillip be able to nurse Neal back to health and reunite him with his family? New fairytale characters will be revealed and old acquaintances will be revisited. So think of a wonderful thought... because our Neverland's going to be a fever dream that just won't break.
How different is this Emma from the one we've known? Kitsis: It was an important thing. Emma, as a character, we love her. She has some new memories, but that didn't ruin her upbringing. She still grew up tough, she still grew up with a wall. It was her against the world and what we'll see is with these new memories it's now her and Henry against the world. She still is the same person, but we're going to really explore what her life is like in Episode 12 called "New York City Serenade." Source
Do the fairy tale characters sent back to the Enchanted Forest still have their memories of Storybrooke? Kitsis: Yes. They know and that gets explored. Horowitz: As we laid out in the winter finale, Emma was the one who being back there was going to lose those memories and have this new life. The fairy tale characters get left with the pain and knowledge of what happened over the years that the show has been on and what they've been through. None of that is erased. Source

NATALIE: As of two weeks ago when I was on set, Lana Parrilla told me nothing had come up in scripts between the two of them, but she expected it to happen toward the end of the season — though it might not be as easy as we'd all hope. "She's closed her heart off to any romance," Parrilla says. "She doesn't look at anyone with lust or desire. But I do hope that Regina opens her heart again to love. It's been many, many years. Ausiello: Better than clues, we have cold, hard facts. More akin to Season 1′s storytelling, “The second half [of Season 3] will take place between Storybrooke and the Enchanted Forest,” series cocreator Eddy Kitsis told Matt Mitovich. In other words, EP Adam Horowitz underscored, “It’s not a ‘journey to another land’ paradigm” à la the Neverland arc concluding Dec. 15. “We always have the ability and the desire to dip into other lands, which it’s more than likely we shall do,” Horowitz added, “but it will be in the way that we’ve done it in the past, as opposed to locking all of our characters onto a boat and sending them [to a new realm].” Source

I brought your Q to the boys, and Horowitz assures the Rumbelle fans, “In the second half of the season, they are going to be in the same world for an extended period of time.” But Kitsis then chimed in: “If you’re a fan of Rumbelle, the second half of the season will further explore their relationship – in whatever state that is.” :-O Source

She's one of the best female villians of all time, and not just in recent Disney history. This one even has her own theme music! Also, we can tell you that she is being brought in because now that Rumple and Regina have made peace, the writers felt they needed a new Big Bad and Mader's character will definitely be at odds with Regina. We will hopefully have your very first look at Mader's character (the new villain) on the night of Dec. 15 on E! Online, right after the episode of Once Upon a Time ends, so make sure you check back! Since returning from the holidays, we've received a bucketload of new spoilers. So let's step back and review key spoilers. Otherwise, we'll give each other ulcers.
* On Monday, 1/13 via TVGuide of Season Finale Wedding! Huge finale spoiler already - 5 months away and it hasn't even been written! Most importantly Keck listed 3 possible 'couples' (2 of which aren't - as of today):

Does anyone truly believe this is coincidental? I have a bridge in Brooklyn.... Seriously though.
I do believe the PA forced their hand and they got ahead of the story as she has deleted the tweets and Adam was starting to receive questions from Tweeters asking for confirmation. If the gossipy part of the PA's chatter is true and the actor (staying gender neutral) wanted out then koodles is probably correct and E/A used the exit for maximum dramatic story effect.
From a marketing standpoint, it is ridiculous to announce a character dying this early. We're 7 weeks from the premiere and another 5 until the episode actually airs. It makes no sense. This is something announced the week before the premiere (after the Oscars) to really hype the show and get people to tune in and watch for story clues. Which brings me to...
We are going to know fairly soon because, as followers of spoilers, - we'll notice the cast member's absence. A member of the core 8 not filming within the next 2 consecutive episodes will be a huge tip off. The actor probably won't be allowed to announce any roles or auditions until after episode airs. This is common practice within the industry. If the actor wanted to leave of his/her own accord, I don't think we should be marching with pitchforks towards E/A. (envisioning the hate on twitter - ugh!)

The reason the death just doesn't make sense to me is that there's that whole year in the enchanted forest that they still have to account for and show what happened. So whoever leaves, wouldn't they still be able to appear in flashbacks that take place during that year?
Neal: Depends. Might give up. Maybe if it's a really, fantastic death I'll stick around. Doubt a lot of other people will.
Emma: Well, this would give them a chance to turn it into the Belle and Rumplestiltskin show, which I could support. But, it would be a thousand times better to pair Emma off with one guy or another (notice how I am nobly not mentioning any preferences which guy) and send her off into the sunset.
Henry: I think I'd have major problems. If they want to get rid of Henry or the actor (not saying they should, just saying if they do), send him off into the sunset, let him go to boarding school after he gets his Hogwarts letter, or transform him into a different person. But, don't kill him!
Snow: You don't kill Snow White. Watch the original movie. If you even try, a bunch of dwarves and forest animals will drive you over a cliff.
Charming: Ditto.
Regina: Well, she could fall over a cliff. At this point, I think she'd need a more heroic death. In the end, I could still watch it if this happened.
Ruby: Excuse me? You have a super-powerful werewolf girl who's dating Frankenstein and you want to get rid of her? Are you crazy?
Leroy: Not without giving him and Astrid/Nova a happy ending you don't.
Other dwarf: I could still watch, but thousands of little kids will go to bed crying and will sob every time they see the cartoon. Think you can live with that?
Frankenstein: Just bring him back with bolts in his neck. Pretty please?
