It looks epic.
It does, but the visual end product will give us a clue to much they spent on CGI. I haven't read of any big name actors in any of the roles so the cast payroll may be lower than expected.

I haven't seen any promotional stuff released and that should give us some sort of clue to production value.

WBTV Announces San Diego Comic-Con 2017 Line-Up

Preview Night, July 18 there will be pilot screenings for many WB shows. Krypton is one of them.

Krypton: Set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet, Krypton follows Superman’s grandfather (Cameron Cuffe) — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos. Based on DC characters, Krypton is from Warner Horizon Scripted Television and is executive produced by David S. Goyer (Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, The Dark Knight trilogy) through his Phantom Four banner, along with Damian Kindler and Cameron Welsh. Krypton is based on characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, published by DC, and will debut in 2018 on SYFY. Follow the show on Twitter at @KryptonSYFY.

That sounds quite interesting. Hope they will put some effort into it, like they do with dark matter and not making it look cheap.

I think the series' success definitely depends on the writing. The reactions to the pilot will be interesting.
