THE DEFENDERS AND JESSICA JONES SEASON 2 WILL BE FILMED BACK-TO-BACK Just because the new season of Jessica Jones isn’t hitting this year doesn’t mean that Krysten Ritter isn’t going to be busy in the near future. According to Ritter, she’s slated to film Jessica Jones season 2 almost as soon as she finishes her part in The Defenders miniseries. “They’ll be back-to-back,” said Ritter during an interview with Digital Spy. “I don’t know if they’ll overlap a little bit.” Ritter noted that she’s already started training to reprise her role, but she declined to state whether she will be making a guest appearance in Luke Cage or Iron Fist before The Defenders miniseries brings them all together with Daredevil as they face a common enemy. However, Ritter did drop a few interesting tidbits about where Jessica is after the first season of her series. There are spoilers ahead if you’re not caught up with Jessica Jones! “I’m excited to see what happens next for Jessica, and the end of season one left a lot of doors open and questions unanswered,” related Ritter. “Kilgrave was her reason for getting up every morning. Saving people gave her purpose. I wonder how emotionally taxed she’s going to be now. That opens a lot of doors as to who will come out and play. We all live in the same universe, so there are endless possibilities.” The ending of Jessica Jones’ first season suggested that the title character had gained a very public reputation as a heroine despite her continued inner turmoil. Perhaps Jessica will be changed again after her team-up in The Defenders. Jessica can more than hold her own with her fellow Netflix superheroes, so we’d love to see her come out of The Defenders with a new perspective about herself. Netflix has not set a premiere date for The Defenders or Jessica Jones season 2, but a 2017 premiere seems likely for both projects.

Marvel made the headlines once again today by revealing that Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix, Jessica Jones) will once again reprise her role as lawyer Jeri Hogarth in Marvel’s upcoming Iron Fist series. Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb spoke on the actress and the importance of her character in the upcoming series, stating: “Carrie-Anne has fast become a fan-favorite part of our street level saga. As Marvel fans know, Hogarth in the comics plays a critical role in the life of Danny Rand so it seems only fitting that Carrie-Anne join in.” Executive producer and showrunner for the Iron Fist series, Scott Buck, spoke about the character in more specifically how she fits into the Iron Fist world. “Danny Rand lives in the highest stratosphere of New York’s business society and he’s going to need a ruthless lawyer to help him navigate this alien world. I’m very happy to have the opportunity to bring Carrie-Ann Moss as Jeri Hogarth into ‘Marvel’s Iron Fist.‘ Still no word on when the series will premiere but some rumors are pointing to a release late this year or early next year. We will keep you posted on any updates as they surface.
