They always portray the shy outcast are some kind of weirdo. It was just so over the top with the main female lead and they also made the jocks your typical jerks.

The same thing was said about the 2013 version of CARRIE. I can't remember the actress' name (Chloe... something ) but people thought she was too overtly pretty to play the character like Sissy Spacek did in the original.

I think with Rachel Leigh Cook, it was slightly more believable because she had more of a book-ish vibe about her. Having said that, she talked so much that it wasn't believable. She didn't seem shy at all.

My favourite romantic movie but was sad was if I stay with Chloe in it I do love a good romance film.

I didn't watch it for the first time until last year in January and I loved it

actually he was already noticing her beauty at the beginning of the movie but yeah it wasn't really until she removed her glasses

but I can see the overused clichés

I think Princess Diaries did it better b/c Michael already liked Mia before her transformation

I actually think AWTR is underrated compared to other similar movies like The Notebook and TFIOS

I wasn't a huge Princess Diaries fan, but I did see it a few time, it can be pretty enjoyable.

AWTR wrenched my heart and it's a tough watch for me. If you want a less emotional attachment and some serious 90s cringe, I suggest Here on Earth. It's hilariously terrible and so enjoyable to watch with a group of people.
