They should've known better. The franchise never worked like that. It's not like Star Trek.

Not even Star Trek works like that. It's seemed to me that Disney has ruthlessly tried to milk the Star Wars franchise and its fans without concern for the fans' budgets or the depth and good taste of the material they were putting out. It's made me one realy pissed off fan.

you don't think it's possible to produce good, new stories based on those universes?

Well, Star Trek did keep turning out spinoff shows like Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and now Discovery. It did get tedious, though.

I think comic books were good at developing different Star Wars titles, but Hollywood isn't really good at that, Rita.

Well, it seems Comcast beaten Disney&Fox for Sky. Hopefully, that will help the Disney&Fox deal get approval from the EN. It also seems Disney&Fox has a percentage of Sky that Comcast wants, and Comcast has a percentage of Hulu that Disney&Fox might want. Plus if a trade does happen, I'm not saying this will happen, but there's a chance Disney could get the Hulk&Namor rights.

Not based on Star Wars. Disney's gone and proven that. After the Prequels I never wanted any new Star Wars films, but Disney surprised me with how badly they managed.

Deep Space Nine was good. But Voyager was crap and I've never seen Discovery. You forgot Enterprise. That started out bland and got really good in the last two seasons, before finishing horribly.

I think it's only a matter of better imagination, anything's possible.

As for Star Trek, the recent movies were quite good and I loved Deep Space Nine, but hated Voyager and Enterprise. I'm still deciding about Discovery

Once something like Star Wars has lost its way, there's no going back. Unless you reject all the bad stuff entirely. But Disney has allowed itself to be influenced by the Prequels and similar stuff in making the new films. I knew they couldn't do Star Wars justice, but I was surprised by how badly they managed. Crapping on the original trio, bullcrap characters like Rey and BB8, TLJ loaded with misogyny posing as feminism, general shallowness, the sheer cheek of the Solo fllm, etc.

Thanks, LightYears! Wow, Zimmer's doing all of that?

I didn't forget Enterprise, sum1, I just chose not to mention it. I wasn't a fan of any of the spinoff shows. I was watching Babylon 5 and Farscape, and then I got into Battlestar Galactica.

I tend to agree that anything is possible with enough imagination, Rita. But I think with Star Wars, Disney overplayed their hand. Also, the people who had control over the SW franchise just didn't understand what made the material great in the first place, or they just forgot.

I hope it's good, I want to like this movie but have doubts after all the reshoot rumors and pushing the movie back so much.
