So glad the therapy sessions are indeed making a difference for you, Claire!
I could handle snow. It's the ice everywhere that's freaking me out. And everyone walking quickly around me, making me feel like I'm annoying everyone because I'm not walking quickly enough (Montreal sidewalks are narrow).

And I get it. When not walking on ice, I get annoyed at slow pokes, myself. So this is probably just karma.

Don't envy you the snow. I get anxious driving in all the localised flooding around here.

I realized I spend way too much time worrying about the future and what could happen, rather than like and enjoy life and good things now.

Any ideas to help me help me pay attention, well, be mindful (which is what I'm trying to do} and live where I am in my life?

I'm getting anxious because I can only control where I am, and that drives me nuts.

Kim, I think you being aware is half of the solution, if not more. I mean, I don't know of a magic solution that works for everyone.

But if you know that about yourself, maybe you can work on trying to explore the causes of your anxiety when you're feeling anxious and see if you're projecting?

It's a moment-to-moment thing. Maybe put reminders for yourself in your room, so that you remember to do that.

Hi Kim! I suffer from the same thing. My therapist has set me the task of concentrating on the here and now. First you listen and see if you can hear all the different noises around you, then you concentrate on each one at a time hearing all the detail going on. Then you do the same thing with colours, shapes, shadows, objects around you. Then at the end you try and notice everything at the same time. This whole thing takes 10 or 15 minutes.

Try doing this once or twice a day. Try concentrating on what people are saying/doing, for example.

That's awesome advice, as always, Claire.

I read in my mindfulness book an exercise last night, too. When you're going through a routine part of your day (like making your bed, brushing your teeth, putting on shoes, etc.), take the time to focus on your sense. What do your eyes see? What are the sensations on your skin? What are the sounds you heard?...

The idea is to train the brain to be in the here and now.

Thanks Sunny. Yes it is something we should focus on from time to time.

Ugh, my doctor is closing her practice so I'm going to have to find a new doctor that will take new patients during a time of doctor shortage. I need one to at least renew my prescriptions!

Finding someone to renew your prescriptions shouldn't be an issue, Leanne. No-appointment clinic doctors will do that.

Isn't your doctor passing you on to her/his replacement, though? That's what mine did when she retired.

I managed to go to a meeting today of people I didn't know, and it went really well.

How is everyone doing today? In pain and it's causing a ton of anxiety.

I hope you feel better soon, Mandie. As I've said before, I can't imagine doing well mentally/emotionally when you're in pain.
