I like Charlie. It takes him a while to get comfortable with actually having to be a full time father, but you can tell he's trying.

Can one of the reasons be... Because we know he has a secret crush on Alice. I swear I think he does. Not in a creepy cradle-robbing way, though. Hehe. Alice can pretty much do anything and Charlie would be cool with it.

I think he thinks she's the coolest thing since sliced bread or something. It's kind of sweet.

Chris, exactly. He's struggling with being a full time dad, but no matter what, he'll always try to find a way to help Bella. Even if he doesn't really understand what she's up to.

I felt sad for him in the first book when Bella sees that he still seems to love Renee (or that's the impression I got). Didn't he have their wedding picture on the wall?

I thought of it more that he feels he's tried to have a relationship, but it didn't work out, and he's given up on the idea. Although I do think that he remembers their time together fondly, so maybe he is still in love with her.

I agree that he seems to think fondly about his marriage to Renee and their relationship seems to be good (despite the divorce).

Charlie does have his friends and goes fishing and stuff, but I think sometimes he really misses to have a woman around (especially when it comes to Bella and how to deal with her in certain situations).
