I don't think it's unrealistic. It could happen. Lots of friends end up together.

Oh, of course. It can happen. Sometimes they meet up again later in life and maybe either are both still single or both divorced and they get together.

Even though the show depicted life over the course of the late 60's and early 70's, I think it did a great job of just being relatable to anyone. I certainly saw myself all over the show in ways.
