Surely that's not a topic for conversation WHILST the Dalek is hunting you though. That's what irritated me about that whole scene was the silly "funny" (Or cringey whichever way you look at it) dialogue took place at a really bad time- at a time where no such conversation would take place . It would surely wait til they'd got away/captured.

Well.it isn't but it could be just the way she handles the situation. . The darleks dont just hunt you down there is time for conversations but i do get why you would think its silly i like this type of humour sorry i do

It's been talked about loads over the years. It's main use is to open doors as it's a mechanical arm, but has also been substituted for flame throwers and all sorts over the years:
