He is the best because his assessments were honest. He didn't sugar coat it.

It was tough to see Simon leave the show. His honestly was brutal at times, but he also helped a lot of contestants.

Sometimes his honesty needed to be said in order for the performer to learn.

Some of my best learned moments is when I totally messed up. Thankful someone was enough to tell me...learned and improved a lot for it.

Yeah - the conductor of the flute choir I play in said a few people were sticking out and that you shouldn't always play soloistically. She is always telling me I'm playing too loud, so I'm pretty sure she was talking to me. I've been practicing not playing quite so loudly when I play -- especially in the upper register.

Sometimes it's hard to hear criticism, but it does help you to grow.
