episode summary

Jack Crawford asks gifted criminal profiler Will Graham to consult on a case of missing college girls.
Jack also seeks out brilliant psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lecter.
What Jack doesn't know is that Lecter is a very successful serial killer and a cannibal.
When a copycat decides to enter the picture, Hannibal joins with Will to track down the guilty party.
The results will be profound for Will.

I was hooked after 5 minutes in: the fact it was visually so stunning, so vivid and colorfoul, the acting and the charisma of all the characters, the story so mature and so dark but also elegant and poetic, made me totally forgot everything around me during the duration of the episode. I started breathing again at the end of it.

I don't think that i have a favorite scene: of course everything that happened in Will's mind stand out, and the end scene in the Hobbs house was phenomenal but for the rest i was literally glued to my screen, drinking avidly every moment.

This pilot was very consistent from the start to the end, hit me and drag me into its mad world with damaged characters very effectively.

Favorites places: Hannibal's office and Will's house.

This part is very spot on: the show is getting compared a lot but really the only other show that is close to it in terms of nightmarish atmosphere, hauting cinematography, fascinating score and quality of the writing is Twin peaks.

Easily my favorite part of the episode - and one of my favorites of the season.

Rewatching the episode was a bit weird to me. I liked it even more but for some reason, it was a bit depressing as well. Probably because we've seen by now how far gone Will is... you watch the Pilot and you just wanna scream LOOK AWAY, WILL, DON'T DO THIS.

Definitely one of the best Pilot episodes I've ever watched.
