about your long post and my answer

Cleaning out my DVR queue this weekend and watched something called The Norliss Tapes. Had no idea it was intended as a pilot back in 1973 so was very surprised at the end when there were a lot (lots and lots and lots) of unanswered questions. The vampire was not like a "traditional" vampire in that he was not created by another vampire. This one was a man who died but made a deal to wear the Osiris Scarab ring and it would allow him to rise from the dead and create a sculpture of a demon that would cross over when it was complete. He did kill a few people and drain them of blood, but he did not drink the blood - he mixed it with the clay to make the sculpture.

Hrm....sounds more Golemesque to me.
Sum, why should I do longer posts? __________________

Because it's better for real conversation. Like I bring up lots of thiings in a post and you only address one of them and briefly at that.
I watched an 80s comedy vampire movie called Once Bitten. It was quite likable despite having Jim Carrey in the main role. Karen Kopins was really likable and sexy. Apparently she married her high school sweetheart in 1990 and they're still together and have 4 kids. Apparently she was Miss Connecticut in 1977. Finally, a beauty queen who deserves her crown. __________________

Based on a lot of the new vampire book series' that have come out in the past 15 years, what are some of the vampire laws you find odd? (e.g. Twilight vampires sparkle)

I vaguely remember that movie. It wasn't bad.
Oh, there are too many rules to count. I always found it perplexing that people had to give vampires "dark gifts" a la anne rice. Because superhuman speed/reflexes/strength and immortality isn't enough. Speaking of vampires, Marvel Comics is starting a Vampire event this summer. A revolt, if you will __________________

One vampire trait that is most well-known is that when subjescted to sunlight they burn to ash.
But I really liked the edge/change given to that aspect in the short-lived TV show "Moonlight" starring Alex O'Loughlin and Sophia Myles. The change was it didn't kill then outright but weakened them to the point of death. If they did not feed in time then they would die as if being completely dehydrated. |

A lot of modern fiction do allow differences in that aspect, like Blade as well. I honestly have not heard of "Being Human" or "Kindred the Embraced". Are they novels or movies? To expand this topic: Another aspect to vampirism that has been making it's way into the mainstream is that not all vampires are human blood drinkers, and a common term for those who only drink animal blood (Twilight) are vegetarians. I've also seen those, like in Moonlight, where they pay a guy to get blood from hospitals and such. Third comment to expand topic: Again, I go to Twilight for this, because I don't recall many others who have done this, but their vampires don't require fangs, as their venom stuns their victim. It was actually sort of refreshing to see how evolved the idea of a vampire has come. |

Vampires without fangs are lame. Vampires need fangs. It's part of the image. Plus it's rather useful for opening throats. Venom won't open a throat. In Twilight, is it just the Cullen clan who don't drink human blood or are there other vampires out there like that? __________________

As for your question regarding Twilight, there are others who choose not to drink human blood. But it is important to the Cullen family because they don't feel right in taking a life or feeding on humans because it causes them harm. I think with the modern vampire ideals, my favourite take on the genre is True Blood. |
