Seems you need help with a title there buddy

"Because movies can give us great pleasures in a matter of hours"

Maybe others will have better ideas!

Sounds like we're discussing porn or something (well maybe if it was "in a matter of minutes" I don't want to assume )

I thought it would be nice to not to waste my time on it.
Discussing it you mean? Or watching it? Because it's actually not bad at all.

I finally watched A Tree Grows in Brooklyn! And you weren't kidding, I cried almost throughout the whole second part
told you!

I really liked the story but I thought the direction could have been stronger.
I recommend the book. I thought the movie was alright but it didn't do the book or the characters justice. It wasn't the performances but the direction was weak.

Watching. Oh really? That's good, I'll add to my watchlist then

Oh I thought so. I already added to my to-read list

I watched You Can't Take It With You. Nothing like a Capra movie when you're feeling down and extra cookie points for James Stewart, Jean Arthur and Lionel Barrymore. Actually I loved the whole cast in this movie.

It's not what it seems. I know it looks like a time traveling action extravaganza but at the core of it is a real human story and I think that's what 50% of people who watched it either missed or bitched about

Awww ain't that the truth! Capra may be seen as a sap by some but his movies are too genuine to be sappy. And I have a very sensitive sapmeter

Just those three would be enough but the supporting cast is excellent. And a lot of them have been in other Capra movies too.

Tried to see August Rush today. um... seriously? Speaking of sap. What the hell is this?

Also watched Four Lions. You'd never think Jihad would make a good comedy but I laughed out loud the whole time.

Well it's a Spielberg movie and a biopic so I think I'll pass even though the cast is top notch and Kushner/Kearns
Also I already saw one Lincoln movie this year, I'm sticking to it.

Do you not like biopic?
Which Lincoln movie did you watch?

hate them about as much as "romantic comedies". They're just the lazy way out of a creatively bankrupt movie industry. No more stories to tell? Not in the mood to make up some with your brain? How about just more or less telling a "real" only-slightly romanticized () story then? Preferably stocking the cast with celebs and aiming for an Oscar.

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter. At least they weren't pretending it was "real"

I see. I tend to enjoy biographic stories so I am in, but I guess I most interest because its Lincoln, we read a lot of different books about him, he always fascinated me. So will report back on how I like it!

that movie looked scary and terrible, so I passed

Yes! And they are basically the same (I mean, the same structure) and somehow each (of the ones I've seen) has an unique magic Almost time for It's a Wonderful Life again

I could have told you that from IMDB description: "A drama with fairy tale elements, where an orphaned musical prodigy uses his gift as a clue to finding his birth parents."

Not a fan of biopics either. My problem is not with the genre per se but what Hollywood made out of it.

It probably will be as accurate as Lincoln Vampire Hunter though and it was historically very accurate btw.

with some of the movies you've seen at the movies, I'm not sure what qualifies as "terrible" but it was actually pretty good for pop corn entertainment. But yeah probably not your kind of movies.

I was watching both versions of the Apple Annie movie since he directed the original and the remake and even though it's the same story, basically, both movies are special.

I think I'll cheat and see it on my own before Xmas
(Kiki, I know it's Black and white and all but that one is your kind of movies!)

and it has a whooping 36 on metacritic but I think the difference between the imdb rating and the metacritic score got me curious. Turns out it was just a bunch of fangirls fanning themselves over Jonathan Rhys Meyers singing

Yep. Same here. Just like romcoms. It's the lazy way out. Not saying I haven't enjoyed some biopics. But it's rare that they are well done or remotely accurate.

Well thats good at least, I like when moveis are historically accurate

I guess I meant terrible in the sense that I didn't get where the idea of Lincoln a vampire came from and it looked scary and you know I don't do scary

Oh I didn't know there was a remake! I have to check it out then

that guy creeps me out. He'll be on a movie with Lena so I'll have to see his face again (and I'll probably see it on the big screen), pray for me.

and I have that problem with romcom nowadays but I usually love classic Hollywood romcoms so it's not like they can't be good, but the found a formula and stick to it. It's missing the magic that the good classic romcoms had.

Lincoln wasn't a vampire.

Lady for a Day was one of his first movies and the story and characters are pretty much the same as Pocketful of Miracles, which ironically was his last feature film. Can't pick a favorite really. Love both casts even though Davis is just magnificent ofc.

I'll ask others to pray but you'll be in my thoughts.

right??! And it's not as if they couldn't do it anymore. When Harry Met Sally resurrected the romcom and did it well, only so that it could be plunged into the abyss it's in ever since.

Very interesting (and unfortunate) article about the utter lack of worthy female leads for the Oscar this year

In Hollywood, Where Are the Best Actress Oscar Nominees? - The Daily Beast

I mean I think Hattaway was great in Batman but a lead? She was not. On the other hand, if they have nobody else to nominate, it's kinda sad.
