yeah that Xmas title was starting to piss me off...

I read a comment a few days ago, after watching Now, Voyager, I think... one guy said that he tried to stop smoking for years, but being a fan of old movies, it was really hard
you just have to realize it's a trick and a puff of smoke won't turn you into Lana Turner, Ava Gardner or Bette Davis. I practiced in front of a mirror and it was pretty quick

And I loved Love Actually, but too many movies tried to copy the idea...
there was an idea?

Ooh, I Alan Rickman, need to check these out
he's awesome! I was just watching Galaxy Quest this week and he kills me in it

Galaxy Quest is funny AR was the best! And his dubbing of Marvin in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

You mean movies that are really a collection of shorts with separate stories but you find out at the end that everyone knows everyone else and which only goal is to cram as many celebrities in one movie as possible? Cause Altman was doing that long before Love Actually really.

I'm not fond of that format. There's really only one movie I've seen that hit the mark (and only has a few casting missteps) and that was Crash.

You are talking about Alan Rickman ?

I loved "Love actually" but that's because I love pretty much all the actors in the movie: Emma Thompson, Colin Firth, Alan Rickman and Hugh Grant I still insist, Ralph Fiennes should have been in the movie too.

Oh okay, phew. Because you said "I'm not fond of that format." I was a bit scared, I love Altman

In general I'm really not. And Altman's movies are on another level. I was just talking about him because he kinda created the whole concept but it's been miserably copied with very little success since.
Except Crash. Well, if you discount the ridiculously bad "white" casting in the movie

Oh yeah, I can't think of any movie like that that I loved

But Altman's movies are not Hollywood rom-coms Btw, what would you recommend? Because I've only seen Gosford Park

Yeah, I love it mostly because of the casting.

I know but she was talking about that concept, that wasn't used only for romcoms. I still have many to watch but I would recommend Nashville and M*A*S*H*. And also Short Cuts and The Player

it's a bit of a waste of a cast though. But yeah I agree Hollywood has made worse attempts
