From the past thread:

Christine is submitting Silver Bullet.
As much as I love this episode, I think this is a bad choice. It's too similar to Bang and that wasn't the wisest choice either. Somehow she's always going with episodes that have a lighter tone. Sure, Bang was way lighter than SB, but, compared to NH or VIP, SB is lighter for all the romance stuff. I don't know if it's because she's afraid voters won't recognize her as a dramatic actress since she's usually nominated for comedy, still I think she should go with more dramatic stuff.

she's worried about the stigma of the "comedy" actress crossing over into drama and is trying to keep it light. I think it's a great episode but not the best for her.

Good news for Archie: she's not the presumed winner anymore

Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks so. I'm always afraid to play the Bad Cop too much. I really love the episode and the last minutes of it are pretty much heartbreaking and there's some sharky Diane in the courtroom too, still, it's not enough for me. If I think of Kalinda crying in the elevator and laughing hysterically with Sophia and then I think of this, being an Emmy voter who's never watched the show, I'd probably be more inclined to vote for Archie.
However, I really need to check Justified. I was already curious, but now Martindale has made me even more.

I also think that Nine Hours or VIP Treatment might be a better choice for Christine, but I'm afraid she isn't going to win even if she submitted other episode. Margo Martindale seems to be on the rise, and I really have to watch Justified, too bad I don't like Timothy Olyphant
As for Archie's chances of winning, it will be hard, but not impossible, Allison Janney did it, so why not our girl? And as far as I remember Glenn Close also won two times in a row, but of course it was lead category and the supporting one is really strong this year.

no such thing
we're here to discuss anything related to awards, good or bad.

That's my thinking too. It's a great Diane episode if you are a fan of the show and of the character but if you're just looking at the acting, it's probably not enough for the win.

Not that she could NOT be great in any episode, even those where she has only a couple of scenes but this episode, albeit Diane-centric just doesn't have enough oomph to make her a contender.

It's a problem since he's the ever present lead.

I don't want to be the pessimist here. I'm not discarding any possibility and if it was me, I would have given it to her even more for S2 than for S1 because even though she had little to do, she did bring on a lot more to the character than was in the scripts and she truly shone in those last few episodes.
However, the category is really competitive and I fear they will prefer giving it to someone new than play the rerun.

A few articles... not very good

No love for the show from LAist
TCA Award Noms Not Great
