I guess this goes here.

We just got a peabody award
"The Peabody Awards honor excellence in all electronic media, and in the program's 70th year, a record number of awards were handed out -- 39 in total."

Out of only 9 entertainment shows. And with The Good Wife being a "hour" long, full series & network show, Thats pretty impressive!!

Is TGW a second time winner? TVline seems to think so. Posting that link on the News thread.

Nope. Last year the only shows awarded were Glee and Modern Family.

Go Show!

Um it is a fairly big deal even though it's not as publicized as the Emmys or the Globes and they don't have long lines of celebs in pretty clothes walking a red carpet. An article I saw referred to the Peabodys as the Pulitzer Prize of electronic medias so it's prestigious if not popular. They don't have categories nor a definite number of awards given each year so making the cut at all is awesome.

Here's something from the article about the selection process.

"Selections from 1000 electronic broadcasts are made by a 16-member panel made up of "distinguished academics, television critics, industry practitioners and experts in culture and the arts." Programs produced and intended for wide release theatrical motion picture exhibition are not eligible. The largest number of Peabodys given in one year to date is 36, though no set number of the awards must be handed out."

It's a real pleasure to update that OP!

ETA:
This list includes comments from the judges.

TGW is on page 2 and here's what they have to say:
Quote:
The Good Wife (CBS)

In this densely layered dramatic series, the dutiful wife of a disgraced politician resumes her legal career and finds satisfaction, self-worth and moral quandaries of her own.

I'm not going to take that as a sign of the award being less exclusive or them being indiscriminate in their choices and rather take that as a reminder that TV has gotten crazy good.

Okay, the description alone tells you that this is not your ordinary award. I wonder what they would have said about Twilight?
Summed up Alicia's story and how it ties into the procedural nature of the show very well - satisfaction, self-worth and moral quandaries.

Could someone clarify whether MM would be eligible for the Emmys next year because of their extended hiatus? It's still probably going to BE but I'd like to have hope.

Season four aired from July to October 2010 so no, it should not be eligeble in 2012. I'm assuming 2012 means January onward and not mostly in 2012.
