This is an appreciation thread for Everwood fans who are also Dawson/Joey & Pacey/Andie fans. For those who shipped these pairings, the series once had such great promise, but ended up being one of the most disappointing series to date. TPTB enjoyed manipulating the heart and soul of the old school (seasons 1/2) Dawson's Creek audience, who embraced the premise and the main pairings of the show; Dawson/Joey and Pacey/Andie fans. The first two seasons defined Dawson's Creek. Season 3 came along and the show simply wasn't the same anymore. New showrunner who essentially mocked the premise, destroyed the main pairings, and was basically just fine with dropping the quality in order to make the series his own. We know the drill. Discussing our main pairings, as well frustrations over storylines, writing, TPTB, fandom in general, is all welcome here.

Note: This is not a debate thread with other ships. This thread is strictly for Dawson/Joey & Pacey/Andie fans to appreciate the pairings and discuss aspects of the show, both good and bad. This thread was originally created to celebrate friendships between a couple of regulars on the Everwood board who, back in the day, posted on the Dawson's Creek board and encountered some terrible fan wars and not so great moments. We wanted a safe place to discuss our thoughts here on the Everwood board. That is how this thread was created. Jerry D, our amazing Administrator, and my very good friend, came up with the idea and the rest is history. :) For those of you who ship other pairings and don't agree with the content of this thread, of course there's the Dawson's Creek board and other threads scattered throughout Fan Forum perfectly designed for you. :)

Alternate S5 & S6 : He made a solemn promise he would come and visit her. Hell, he even jotted it down in indelible black ink onto the crisp pages of her brand new journal while wearing a big toothy grin on his face, but regardless, it had been months since Pacey had made any contact with Andie. Andie forced herself not to overthink it and chalked it up to life getting in the way, but the smallest embers inside of her heart that yearned for him still despite everything that happened between them started to prickle at the back of her head. Although once the orientation process at Harvard was over and the real work began, Andie’s thoughts of Pacey Witter were sidelined in order to make room for the mountains and mountains of schoolwork she was receiving on a daily basis.

That was until, out of the blue, Pacey literally came sailing back into her life looking tanned, well rested, and even more gorgeous. Andie vowed to never let herself fall back in love with Pacey, she made an ironclad pledge to herself to never stray back into that hornet’s nest, but his soft, warm gaze pointed in her direction had Andie convinced his heart was remembering the way it used to love her.

She was one hundred percent correct in her assumptions.

The laughter between them settled into a deep warmth and easiness, and they talked well into the wee hours of the night and gradually, the intimacy they once coveted as a couple so long ago had returned to their bodies in triplicate. It started with Pacey’s hand brushing up against hers when she handed him a magazine from a convenience store shelf, which then evolved into their hugs becoming longer and more needy each time they touched. Soon enough, Pacey did the unthinkable, and asked Andie a question she never thought she’d hear again in her life from him…

Pacey Witter had asked her out on a date.

At first, they had both agreed to not invest too much of themselves into the date, stating an urge to take things as slow as they could in order to protect themselves from any harmful fallout, but Pacey and Andie’s mutually intense bedroom eyes that screamed “make love to me.” seemed to tell another story altogether. The immense pain of potentially opening up old wounds over how their relationship crumbled in the past fell to the wayside as Pacey and Andie ended up having passionate, raw, soul searing sex in Andie’s shower. Every single iota of mistrust, devastating heartbreak, and bad memories in their past circled its way down the drain.

And as Andie sat by her vanity, drying her hair and watching Pacey getting ready for bed, she smiled to herself. At long last, she finally felt like she could breathe again.

Okay, before Dawson’s Creek there was Beverly Hills 90210. Beverly Hills 90210 is THE show that started the teen shows.

On Beverly Hills 90210 there was a classic triangle...

Brenda/Dylan/Kelly.

Brenda/Dylan were Dawson/Joey
Dylan/Kelly were Pacey/Joey

I bet you can guess who I shipped? Yes, indeed, Dylan/Brenda.

Brenda and Dylan had their ups and downs but basically Brenda’s dad tried to keep them apart. Brenda goes to Paris for the summer and Kelly, her best friend, starts hanging out with Dylan that summer. They start getting romantic. It was horrible.

Long story short... Brenda/Dylan didn’t end up together because Shannen left the show a couple seasons in. Brenda/Dylan would’ve ended up together had Shannen stayed. Kelly/Dylan ended up together but in the revival we find out they are separated and Dylan basically bolted. It was great news finding out Dylan/Kelly were severed and done, lol.

I brought this up because Shannon Doherty was asked about the triangle and I found her words perfect. Real life and how the Kelly’s and Dylan’s and Pacey’s and Joeys are WRONG for going there is the bottom line...

As unpopular an opinion as this may be, I think Joey and Dawson, and Pacey and Andie, were the true pairings of this show. Even watching it all these years later, season 2 still gives me a nostalgic feeling that none of the other seasons do.

Joey and Pacey were just a typical high school couple. Joey and Dawson were epic. And Andie brought out the best in Pacey while Joey brought out the worst. It's not hard to see who was really meant to be here.

It is not an unpopular opinion to be sold on DJ and PA. These pairings were the most popular. PJ were mostly Internet popular.

PJ never convinced the audience they were healthy and stable as a teen couple, let alone as adults in a long term relationship.

I have a coworker who is a big Everwood fan. I never even knew this until recently and I've known her for years. It's a miracle I found this out considering Everwood hasn't been on the air in years and we hadn't talked about TV series at all until recently. We talk sports. We live in Minnesota, hockey is something everyone talks about here, lol, so we talk Minnesota Wild and other sports.

When we started discussing Everwood, I was so pleasantly surprised. It was great. She said Everwood is easily one of her top shows of all time.

We got to talking more about shows and she also loves Lost and Stranger Things... two of my favorite series as well. She asked me recently if I had seen Dawson's Creek and if so, was it worth the watch. I told her to run, run far away from that thought, do not even think of watching this series. :lol: I explained why and she couldn't believe it. Considering she loves Ephram/Amy and Andy/Nina, as well as Jack/Kate and Sawyer/Juliet on Lost I knew her shipping pattern. She likes the ships that make sense. :lol: The main, traditional ships. Thus, I would bet money she'd ship Dawson/Joey and Pacey/Andie. I didn't want her to be tortured watching the series so I had to warn her. She thanked me. LOL.

Did you explain to her how they screwed up the series? You could have told her to watch seasons one and two and forget the rest.

But I'm sure you saved her from pulling her hair out when season three started.

Oh yeah, I explained everything to her. I mentioned especially the beautiful Pacey/Andie season 2 dynamic. She said knowing how it all ends up... she’d be setting herself up for a fall when it ends in disaster.

She watched Beverly Hills 90210 and was a diehard Brenda/Dylan shipper. She's still not over Shannon leaving the series and Kelly/Dylan ending up together (until they divorced in the revival which she was happy about).

So I know she hates triangles and things getting messed up as a result. She would have been devastated over DJ and PA getting messed up due to PJ.

I have always loved Joey. She had a dawson on her mind. Pacey shouldn't be jealous of that. I hated his jealousy. :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

The season three Pacey was cruel. He really screwed Andie over season three and the incident that really got me was when he told Andie it would be an honour to take her to the prom and first chance he has, dances with Joey,

I'll never forget he shot of Andie standing there watching them dance.

It's so obvious the only reason he asked Andie was to get up with Joey. Then there's the incident where he sleeps with Andie and dumps her.

I have to admit that I half way enjoyed Joey making him miserable, but I also remembered what Pacey once was with Andie.
