I remember all in my head :lmao: "There's been an awakening, have you felt it? The dark side..." then that scene :thud:

For the ongoing female character comparison: Saw Wonder Woman and Gal was great in the role. They made her go in for a bit too much goody-goodyness, compassion and niceness, as if it was made for kids, but Gal gave the character a composed strength, showed her as very much having it together and being formidably determined. Like Rey, Wonder Woman is really just a beginner in this film, lost in an environment that's strange to her, but Gal makes her a much more mature figure than Rey. Gal also gives Wonder Woman a naive earnestness that comes off very different from Rey's soft naivete.

Surprises me that you said it's like it's made for kids, DC characters on movies are usually so gloomy (unless you count Tim Burton's Batman and Suicide Squad but those have a lot of focus on villains who are supposed to be fun). I'm still planning on watching it.

I heard Gal got paid like 46 times less than Henry Cavill in this movie

Gal is worth 46 Henry Cavills and she should be paid accordingly.

The film is a whole hell of a lot more sweetened than Zack Snyder's DC movies, despite some portrayal of the harshness of WW1. There's all this overdone niceness. And there's all this crap about the Amazons existing to bring love into the world, which is just misogynistic. And pushing Wonder Woman = Love and Compassion so much gets into the territory of stereotyping women. It's the old "girls are made of sugar and spice and everything nice" stereotype. People need to stop trying to associate each gender with a particular set of personality traits and let people (and fictional characters) be just people and not genders.

Another issue I have with the film is the way it mangles Greek mythology and makes it a copy of Christian mythology, with Zeus vs Ares being God vs the Devil. That's not what Greek mythology or Ares are all about at all. Someone has a limited ethoncentric imagination, whether it's in the filmmaking or the comic-writing.

And the way the Amazons are portrayed is so idealized, prettified and dumb faux-fantasy. It just doesn't ring true. It's too sweetened up. Though Robin Wright is good as Antiope.

The general sweetening in the film is what makes it come across like it's meant for kids. It's the least mature of the DECU movies yet.

All that said, Gal is still magnificent in the lead role and the film is worth seeing for that. Her Wonder Woman is definitely one of my favorite characters out of the various big name screen franchises out now, along with characters such as Thor, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Black Widow.

Looks like it's just an ok movie but with an outstanding actress then?

Something like that.
