Or they just spend all of their money on SW stuff.
Even if I had lots of money, those fancy convention packs don't interest me. __________________

There isn't much common sense at conventions. Rabid fans fawning over egotistical celebs. I was at a convention once. It was sad. It was a long time after that before I was prepared to accept the label "fan", after I saw there what real fans were like.

Wow....on the one hand. conventions look like a lot of fun. I mean, it's a chance to meet other fans, see cool stuff, geek out and not worry about anyone thinking I'm any weirder than the rest of the people there. But it also seems like there's a lot of...I dunno, hierarchy that goes on even among fans, you have to stand in line for hours and hours to see a lot of the stuff, etc. And I have a big problem with celebrities charging the huge amounts of money that they do to shake your hand and sign a photo that's worth about 75 cents. I mean, they're already getting paid to be there, and the fans are already paying to BE there. Meet and greet sessions are publicity for whatever they're currently working on, and it takes all of 10 seconds to sign your name to something. At $100 an autograph or whatever, even assuming they use the rest of a minute to "talk to" the fan, that's what, $6000 an hour? I dunno... the only conventions I've ever been to were tiny, local things where the most special of special guests were, like, someone who was in 5 episodes of ST:TNG or something, no one big, among the fans OR the guests.... I don't think I have the patience to wait in long lines and put up with fans who are "better" than other fans or whatever. Sounds like fun, but not for me, I guess?

At others cons the fans get their money's worth. At Big Apple Comic Con I got a photo with Mary McDonnell and she autographed it. I forgot how much I spent, but she took her time and spoke for a few minutes with every fan. Same with Julia Jones from New Moon/Eclipse/Breaking Dawn. We talked for a while. And at NYCC I got to speak for a few minutes with Tricia Helfer and Katee Sackhoff from Battlestar Galactica. |

^ Those are cool experiences, but I still don't get the paying for autographs thing. It seems greedy.
