Yeah that's what would've made sense, considering what Leia said in the original trilogy. Major lack of consistency in Lucas' storytelling in the prequels, unfortunately.

Yeah and a much more fulfilling ending for Padme's character overall. It seemed very out of character that she would just give up on her children like that.

I read many theories about that before, I think they're all reaching to be honest. Sadly I think her death was just bad writing on Lucas' part, and I try to remember her better moments when I think of her character since I'm a Natalie fan.

It's a theory I like more and think it is more plausible than "losing the will to live."
