I'm currently on Lair of Grievous, which is Episode 1x15 by chronological order.

I've always loved Grievous as a character, although his heavy involvement in the Clone Wars series creates several inconsistencies with Revenge of the Sith that have never been explained.

I've got 3 episodes left in Season 1 chronologically, and then I'll probably post a review.

The Clone Wars Season 1 Review (Cat and Mouse - Mystery of the Thousand Moons)
The Clone Wars as a series is an interesting endeavor in that it wanted to be both episodic and serialized, presenting its story in "chunks" of interconnected episodes while also not always airing those "chunks" of episodes together. This is particularly noticeable during what are chronologically the first 21 episodes (plus one movie) of the series, where we start out "in media res" with the "Christophsis arc" of Cat and Mouse/The Hidden Enemy/The Clone Wars movie and just move forward from there.

It's an approach that doesn't completely work in terms of casual accessibility, but makes for some fun viewing nonetheless.

* Best Episode(s): Cat and Mouse, The Hidden Enemy, The Clone Wars movie, Supply Lines, Ambush, Bombad Jedi, The Gungan General, Blue Shadow Virus, Mystery of the Thousand Moons

* Best Story Arc(s): "The Battle of Christophsis"/"Parley with the Hutts", "Toydarian Allegience", "Blue Shadow Virus"

* Best Character(s): Anakin, Ahsoka, Jar Jar, Obi-Wan, Ventress

* Things That Didn't Quite Work: The heavy inclusion of Grievous, which creates several inconsistencies with regards to Revenge of the Sith that have never been explained; not initially producing or airing episodes like Cat and Mouse, The Hidden Enemy, the Clone Wars movie, Clone Cadets, and Supply Lines in "story order"

* Overall Rating: 8.5 out of 10

As first seasons go, TCW's pilot movie and first 21 narratively chronological episodes do a pretty good job of setting up the series' premise and overall format, although the heavy inclusion of Grievous and the resulting inconsistencies with later chronological Canon and the fact that not producing or airing all of the parts of its "story chunks" in sequence creates some disjointedness for casual audiences do drag it down slightly.

Jar-Jar :

Ahsoka and Ventress were great new characters

Oh so doing chronological makes for some of the "arcs" not to be together unlike release order does put the arcs together

No. Release order places the narratively interconnected Cat and Mouse, The Hidden Enemy, and The Clone Wars movie, Supply Lines and Ambush, and the introductory Domino Squad episode Clone Cadets grossly out of sequence, whereas chronological order fixes that problem.

Oh right I did notice that where only some of the release order is done in order -- like Mortis Arc or Nightsisters or some 2 [3 parters] are grouped together

That makes sense Supply Lines - Ambush being connected

Domino Squad + Rookies, right? go together

It's Clone Cadets + Rookies, but yes, they're a pair. The episode ARC Troopers is also linked to those episodes, but it takes place quite a ways after their events.

I don't know, because I've not seen it.

My first go-around watching the series, I only got to R2 Come Home - in chronological order - before real life got in the way.
