That's a very good point. A lot of Disney songs have deeper meaning than on the surface.

What does everyone think of the Pocahontas sequel.

Totally agree. Colours of the Wind is actually one of my all time favourite Disney songs, the way it connects to nature and how it teaches people to respect it.

And also definitely agree on Hunchback. The songs in that film are some of the darkest Disney songs ever written, and some of the best.

Oh, Colleen, don't get me started on the sequel. As most of you probably know, I am not a huge fan of most of the Disney direct to video sequels. And Pocahontas 2 is one of my least favourites (I actually have tried to avoid most of them). I just don't like the way they tried to make it more 'historically accurate' with getting Pocahontas to marry John Rolfe. Because really, that is the only true thing that did happen between the two films. The animation was off, the songs were nowhere near as good and it was just bad. But that's just my opinion.

I happen to agree with you on everything! It just did not have the same zest as the original. I was just curious if anybody felt the same way I did!

Yeah, most of the direct to video/dvd sequels sucked and Pocahontas 2 is one of them. I hated that she ended up with Rolfe too. Her and Smith were so much better together and had one of the best Disney love stories. I'm glad they got out of that phase with all the crappy straight to DVD sequels/prequels/midquels. There are only a few I liked, the ones off the top of my head that I liked were The Little Mermaid 2, Cinderella 3, Lion King 2, and the two Aladdin sequels. Oh, and The Rescuers Down Under (which is the only one that was better than the first one) Fantasia 2000 was good as well if that counts (the first Fantasia is way too long and bores me in some parts) Even then, they still can't touch the originals.

Good to know we're on the same page in regards to that sequel

Sometimes, movies are best not continuing on after the first one.

In this case, it was better if they would have stopped after one.

Just because you can make money on it doesn't mean you have to.

I honestly think first movie ended how it should have ended. I liked that you didn't see her going off with John Smith. It was not what you usually saw.

^ YES.

I agree Colleen. It was a bittersweet ending, and it makes a change from the happily ever after endings.
