When Disney isn't so kid friendly....
As a mom, I'm pretty confident that most Disney films are Ok to be watched by kids. There have been a few problems though, the evil Snow-White step mom freaked my 9 year old son out, my 12 year old girl cries everytime she see's the mermaid Madison from Splash all lonely and tubed up, in that tank. And lets not go there..when Bambi's mom gets shot...chokes me up everytime. Have you or your kids, younger siblings ever had problems whilst watching a Disney film?

From what I'm told, I cried extremely hard when Bambi's mom got shot. I cried during Dumbo because they were so mean to him and I felt so bad for him. And Fantasia scared the crap out of me, so I cried some more. And I cried in Fox & The Hound because the hunter wanted to kill Tod and Tod and Copper were friends.
I also, although I was much older, cried during Homeward Bound 1 and 2. I'm a very emotional person...I cry alot even to this day. I cried during a commercial the other day. __________________

I'm a sap, so there have been many times during disney movies that I've teared up and cried a bit.
But I think there can be some probs with some of the characters in disney movies, like some of the scarier ones and such. When i was younger, it wasn't to do with a disney character, but there was this witch that I was terrified of, so I can see kids getting upset and scared over some disney stuff! |

I remember when I first watched "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" That movie scared me. It was creepy and when that priest guy went all evil, it was as if he was posessed.
Plus I didn't like how Quasimodo didn't end up with Esmeralda I remember that is one Disney movie that I really did not like. The Fox & the Hound! I teared up when the lady abandoned the fox in the forest. It was sad. __________________

Love your avie, LittleMilkJug!
I always thought Ursula in the Little Mermaid was scary. Lol! Well not really, but if I was a little kid, I would. __________________

Yes, most Disney movies are wonderful, but they have some scenes that can freak anyone out. As for me, the worst scenes were always the ones with the bad characters' death. Pretty much all of them were terrible and they would really impress me. Also, one of the reasons why I can't watch Pinnochio is because of the scene when his friend turns into a donkey, it was pretty scary. Snow White's stepmother, when she becomes a witch, was evil. I would watch the movie all shriveled on the couch.
About the movies that get you crying, I guess I have to start by saying that I cannot watch Bambi or Pinocchio because I just am not strong enough to hang on throughout the entire movie. Bambi, because of his mom (and for me, in general it's a sad movie), Pinocchio because Gepetto would get me crying all the time, he was always so nice and so worried about Pinnochio that my heart would tear apart. Also, in Lion King when Mufasa dies. I was 6 when I first watched it and I cried. Mufasa was and is still one of my favorite characters. Lastly, I watched Fox and the Hound in the movie theater and it was the last time I ever saw it. It's one of Disney's saddest movies. __________________

I also used to be scared out of my mind of Ursula, She still scares me a little today.
The one scene I could never watch when I was younger because it scared me was in The Lion King when Mufasa was killed. I was completely terrified I use to leave the room and come back when it was over. __________________

I cannot watch Bambi because I get too upset during it. I haven't watched it in years because of it. Same with Fox and the Hound. Usually when Mufasa dies, I go to another room.

Some of those sadder scenes in the movies, they're really emotional! I guess there's no downplaying any of that stuff in Disney movies.
