Ivy Miller (Overnight Delivery) Appreciation Thread #1: Because she loves daises!

Welcome to the first Ivy Miller Appreciation Thread

Title Overnight Delivery
Release Date April 7th, 1998
Director Jason Bloom
Screenwriter Marc Sedaka, Steven Bloom
Co-Starring Paul Rudd, Christine Taylor, Sarah Silverman
Genre Comedy
MPAA Rating PG-13

Reese Witherspoon plays Ivy Miller, an ambitious, hard-working college gal who makes extra money by "flash dancing" at a local joint. Ivy meets devastated Wyatt Trips (Paul Rudd), who believes his girlfriend, Kim, who attends college in the South, is cheating on him. Ivy helps Wyatt write an insulting break-up letter (including some saucy polaroids of Ivy and Wyatt in bed), but when a misunderstanding is revealed, Wyatt and Ivy scramble to stop delivery.

Quotables
• "Men live in hope and die in despair."
• "Extra, Extra. Read all about it. Kim can shake her pom-poms but she won't go at it! Extraaa. Extraaa."
• "****? Oh, oh, no. If I wanna bag a professor from one of my classes, I will, but nobody, and I mean nobody, calls me a ****, so the next time you feel like casting aspersions on my character, try remembering that this quote unquote **** is driving your judgmental ass all the way to Des Moines. So a little decency would be in order. Got it? Good."
• "Boy, never thought I'd fall for a line like that."
• "It's not Jesus walking on water. I'll give it a nine."
• "Why don't you draw some more attention to the stolen vehicle by dancing on it?"
• "My stomach turned the last time we made out & your gut flapped against me, those cellulite packed cactuses you call thighs with the razor sharp stubble called to mind a fifth rate porno actress that I once jerked off to during the tenure of our sorry marriage of convenient. Now I can finally tell all my friends how nauseating you are to mate with. Rot in Hell! Trips."

Facts
• After an unsuccessful pre-screening, the film went straight to video. However, it is still considered a big hit among Reese fans.

I'm giving this thread a HUGE bump and ordering that everyone watches this movie, if they can. I just... this movie is what made me a Reese fan. The.End. I just loved her, and her comedic timing is spot on. Seriously. I must've watched this movie a thousand times shortly after it came out.

A few of my absolute favorite Reese lines:

Ivy: Extra, Extra. Read all about it. Kim can shake her pom-poms but she won't go at it! Extraaa. Extraaa.

Ivy: ****? Got it? Good.

Hee! That's clearly what you'll have to do, Jorunn. ;)

Aww, I loved her hair like that, in the knots. Then it was super curly when she took it down. Cute.

 Why does my video store have nothing?! *sigh* I should just do Netflix for like a month or something and rent every movie my video store doesn't have.

Awe, boo to that, Caitlin. It's available on Amazon. I'm totally ordering it, hee!

I adore this movie, and I totally agree Reese is fabulous in it!
It's a really cute little movie. I really liked Paul Rudd in this movie, and I am not a huge fan of his.
Ivy's sense of style is much like my own, and I love that Reese made it so cute!
I highly reccommend it to any Reese fan, or even a non-fan, I think they will be pleased!

Caitlin, I feel your pain. I just looked for this movie but they didn't have it. :( But just reading Linds' enthusiasm makes me want to watch!!

Jojo 11-14-2006 08:32 AM

Yeah... I really want to see this one. I'm a little slow on the walking, Linds, but I'll get there;)

Hee. It really is just the cutest movie. Maybe I'm a little too fond of it just 'cause I was so young when I first watched it and fell in love with it, but I think Reese and Paul are hilarious.

LOL. I'll be here, Jorunn. ;)
